Is the Nexus 7 already out of favor with Google?

As a Droid Bionic owner, I say there is absolutely ZERO room for complaints about updates!

That said, the Nexus 7 has been rock-solid, and I would wager that most users have had similar results. While issues such as WPA Enterprise are certainly important, I suspect that they affect a very small subset of Nexus 7 owners, and Google likely is simply prioritizing issues.

I'm loving mine. First tablet that I have purchased which actually competes with the iPad.

I have gotten more updates on my Evo lte than on my nexus 7 tablet. I'm loving both devices.

Your opinion of "fast" differs from mine. The other variations of the Nexus started getting Jelly Bean in July. You're getting it two months later and you're on a Nexus device. If the Nexus is the flagship device and the face of Android, why should you have to wait any longer? This isn't good promotion of a flagship product line. Just imagine how long non Nexus users have to wait!

Don't blame Google for something caused by the Carriers.

Yeah, non-nexus devices can enjoy all those updates attempting to make their bastard OSes run even close to as well as stock Android, lol. You'll wait half a year to have actual Google updates implemented into your OS, if they ever are.

I have to say for my next phone or tablet I will take a closer look at what Microsoft has to offer as I doubt they would let a bug like this languish for over 2 months.
No they won't, they just will send you a monthly fix.

:D

I think they should only make nexus devices period. That way they can push out update faster and don't have to worry about the skins like Touch whiz and Sense. I know that this will never happen but it nice to think about.

I'm sorry but sir what is your problem with the n7  personally i would take one update every six month's than an incremental update every 2 months that try to fix small issues quickly but end up with bugs because they rushed out the door to try and satisfy some one who need's to have constant updates, because otherwise they feel like their being neglected. I say quality updates versus quantity of updates any day.

Your exactly proving my point. The non nexus users are still waiting for a while yet. Yea my carrier controlled CDMA nexus got updated later then the unlocked ones sold directly through Google. But it was still updated fairly quickly as far as I am concerned.

Sorry to be so thick, but what's the difference between WPA Enterprise wireless and what everyone else is running? I've taken my N7 literally dozens of places, with all sorts of WiFi networks, and never run into this.

If I remember correctly, WPA Enterprise is when is needed when you're trying to connect to a domain on a network. Most hotspots/home networks don't have domains associated with them so it's usually not an issue, but with more companies allowing BYD to work, it's starting to pickup.

Who cares about wpa enterprise whatever that is. All i know is lots of my apps keep getting updated. And they uodate and load faster than they do on my ipad 3. Looks like another chronic complainer is in the ranks.

Um, how about the people that use WPA, that's who cares. Do you even know what WPA is? And do you personally know the OP? I ask because you are so quick to point out that he is a "chronic complainer".

What a total waste, and ignorant post. And what do your apps getting updated have to do with anything else?

Exactly, he was pointing out a douchey post, you knew that, so why would you even ask, moving on....also why not just get the network admin to change the network type, or just simply access the network through some sort of web portal in a browser or perhaps they have an app for a workaround? There has to be a way for it to work without an ota update to the o/s you would think....

Verizon and Sprint held up the update not Google. If you have a problem with a Nexus device not getting an update don't buy from a carrier like Verizon that is notoriously slow in rolling out updates. I bought the Xoom on Verizon and that was a disaster...

Lol perhaps you thought this was pertaining to any nexus device.....This post is relating to the nexus 7, which is not carrier branded so none of them have any bearing whatsoever on when Google updates the N7. :-)

No the person I responded to was talking about the Nexus CDMA device, I just quoted the wrong response.

A WPA Enterprise Wireless system is frequently found in large corporate environments as well as at many Universities. It's generally more secure than a standard Shared Password WPA Wireless network, however it is more complicated. There are several different subsets of WPA Enterprise Wireless Networks. At my particular institution it is a Wireless Network utilizing WPA w/ EAP-TLS certificate based authentication.

Fixes take time to fix and test and they have to be prioritized. If you were a large company w/ lots of devices and threatened to switch because of the bug, they'll fix the bug faster (I've seen this happen before w/ MS devices). Otherwise, your bug gets rated and prioritized...it's just the way things work.

E.g., Google had an ugly touch bug in 2.1 that sucked up CPU time and made UI/games non-responsive. It didn't get fixed until 2.2 (or some companies backported the fix into 2.1). Some devices were never upgraded above 2.1. It's just the way things work. Saying the bug is "super important to me" isn't enough...you have to get a mass of customers are complaining about it...
