Is the OTA worth losing temp root?

I haven't done the OTA yet. True to my word, after the catastrophe that was 2.3.4 OTA for the Inc, I'm holding out until more results are in. So far I've seen posters say that it fixed the noise problem with headphones and devices jacked in, but there are posts that say it only improved their experience. Everyone is ga ga over the five bar display. I haven't seen any screen shots, but really? Really? The reports have been mixed about battery life, with most that I've read saying better.? Then there are a handful of posts about FC issues, most that seem to be fixed with a reboot or battery pull. But bottom line scattered throughout all of the threads about the OTA are a post here and a post there about not being able to debloat after the update. At least not with CleanTool. My concern is that now that the bootloaders have been unlocked and all of the real root people have rooted, or are able to, will there be another temp root developed for those that just want to debloat? Are the pluses of the OTA worth not having a choice of dealing with the BS being force fed to customers paying high $$$, not just for equipment but service as well? I know I could just fully root and be done, but I'm not that guy. I remember on the Inc forum, post after post of 'this doesn't work anymore and used to before root', 'can't find a ROM that let's me...', 'the last ROM update killed...', 'I'm flashing ROMs every other day'. Temp root was perfect for me. Once and done, everything still worked, except for the things I didn't want to work. Was this just Big Red's BS OTA to stop the temp rooters or do you believe there was substance to the OTA?

I can't tell if this is a rant or a request for advice. lol.

That said, I'm attaching a screenshot of the 5-bar display. I have no idea why anyone would make a big deal about it.

You sound like you want the benefits of rooting without having to root. Make your choice and live with it.

This list of improvements were posted here. If you need any of them, update stock. If you don't, wait for something that works for you. Obviously, one can't expect developers to guarantee an easy 'temp' solution.

most likely, the update will push to you sooner or later with or without your approval. it happened to me on my Thunderbolt, never wanted the mr1 update that royally messed up data, but it forced itself on my Thunderbolt.

I just bought my Rezound today but it already has the 5 bar display. And yet, it just said I have an OTA software update. Strange.

The update solved the audio noise issues for me. That's a huge deal, as it instantly repositions the phone from the worst audio device ever made to where it's supposed to be , as one of the best.

I was hoping for the same but I'm still getting noise in my car. Granted it's not as bad as it was but it's still there. I had to do a factory reset because of temp root, but I know from the past that it is often helpful to do one after an OTA, so while I don't have everything back up and running I may just go ahead and do that in hopes it helps.

No update is worth losing root (temp or perm). As long as it can be rooted again, it might be.
