F function on Note 8

How do I use an F Function on Android

I'm working in an Excel app on my Galaxy Note 8 and I need to be able to use an F2 function key. Unfortunately, I don't see function keys on my keyboard. Is there another keyboard on PlaysStore that I can download and install which will have F function keys?

Have you confirmed that the Android version of Excel supports that keypress? It's entirely possible it doesn't since mobile device keyboards don't usually include those keys. There may be an alternate method for that function in the mobile version of Excel.

Re: F function on Note 8

Are you referring to the dual aperture function of the camera? If so, the Note 8 does not have the hardware for it so you cannot change that as you can on the Note 9 line.

Welcome to Android Central! I never use the Excel app for Android, but I'd find it odd if it required the use of a traditional Function key from a Windows PC keyboard. Can you show us where in the app it expects you to use F2? From what I know of Excel on a PC, F2 is often used to start editing a cell -- is that what you're trying to do?

Hacker's Keyboard does have Function keys, but I doubt it's what you need.

I should add that if the need for F2 comes from a function in the sheet that was written in using VBS or macros (typical for advanced use of Excel in Windows) it's not going to work on Android. Shoot, I don't think it even works on Macs.
