Is there a phone with Lollipop and a minimum of 16GB internal storage on a prepaid plan?

AC Question

I currently have a 2+ yr old HTC Evo that is getting more frustrating to use by the day. I have no internal storage and none of the basic apps I use can be moved to the SD card. I love my prepaid plan with Virgin Mobile. It's cheap and reliable. I need a better device!

Welcome to Android Central! Virgin Mobile doesn't allow you to bring your own phone, from what I can tell on their website, so you're limited to what they have to offer. Their website shows the Samsung Galaxy S5 for $499, which I assume can be updated to Lollipop (it's listed as coming with 4.4.2). The Alcatel Onetouch Elevate is on Lollipop on Boost Mobile, but since system updates are carrier-dependent, it's hard to say if the Virgin Mobile version will get Lollipop.

Thank you! Will it eat up all my internal storage if I buy a device with Kit-Kat and then update to Lollipop? I'm relatively new to all this, but that is the overall feeling I get from my research.

No, Lollipop doesn't use much more internal storage compared to KitKat. The key thing is to get a phone with as much internal storage as you can afford. Don't rely on microSD cards to "expand your storage"--they're mostly good for storing media, not to increase the device's ability to install more apps.

Switch to a GSM-based carrier and get that third generation Moto G.
