Is there a way to block MM from installing?

Not really interested in MM, L has my phone humming along perfectly and I have no desire to "upgrade" or mess with something that works. From what I can tell, MM isn't offering anything that would be of interest to me.

I'm on VZ so I'm sure the update will takes its time coming out but reading these MM battery nightmares I'd like to plan ahead.

Out of curiosity, how do you feel about security updates? If you block updates on your phone, you won't receive those either.

Not really concerned. My phone is my work portal, I don't use it for surfing, games, movies, or much else. I'm probably a low risk but it's something I need to look into though.

I'm not going to block forever, but maybe until they get through the initial bugs and put out a new release...if they ever do.

Go to the application manager, then select the All tab. You'll find two apps named System Updates, and one should have the ability to be disabled. Kill and disable that one, then you'll be good to go.

I've never known Verizon to send security updates independent of OS updates, so I wouldn't expect this to be an issue. The Stagefright patch is the only one I recall seeing outside of an OS update.

That would make it an issue, wouldn't it - no OS update means no security updates because they are rolled into the OS update. For those who bought their phone through them, can we expect US carriers to offer security patches for Lollipop after they start offering Marshmallow? I don't have to deal with North American carriers and their update strategies, so I'm curious.
