Is there a way to bypass a lock screen when the password has been forgotten?

I have a galaxy s6 sm-g920t and i got myself locked out. smasung told me the that a factory reset was my only option but I know that cant be true lol Please help!

Do you have a Samsung account on the device? If so, you may be able to log in to http://account.samsung.com and use features there to reset your device authentication settings.
