AC Question

Everytime I unlock my phone, a stupid ad pops for the Google play store or a virus app or something like that. I don't know what I've done or if I've even done anything wrong. Please help!!!

Hmmm. I'd recommend you to create a new thread on the S9 forum giving as many details as you can, including a screenshot of what you see. This is an old thread and it won't be very easy getting help for such a recent device (and android version).

Ok. Good idea. Thank you
Sorry if that just posted 3 times. Haha

Do you think it has something to do with the Samsung experience thing? I'm thinking it's in one of the million games I've downloaded. I have playstore a.d.d.
Usually the culprit is a third party app that was downloaded. The usual suspects are free games, cleaners, battery/memory boosters, any app by Cheetah Mobile, GO or DU ... Long list and it's not very easy to find out which app is pushing the ads.

Haha. No worries. You could try this, next time you see this popup open your recent apps/multitasking overview and see the name and icon of the last app in there. There's a chance you're can see which app pushed the ad.

Oh I'll find it, if needs be. It cant hide. But, I'll try what you said, first. Thanks.

Also, I never swiped it closed, but it gone. Technology hates me at this time of night.
I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow. :)

I was having the same problem the day after I tried installing the full version of solid explorer. I woke up and was made aware of the problem.

Just like most of you, I went online looking for a solution. I didn't think it was solid explorer because I ended up uninstalling the buggy one(that didn't work anyway) and paid $2 for the official copy. SE was the only app I recently installed.

I went to settings, apps and I noticed at the bottom of my apps list was a "no name app" with a blank icon. It said it was installed from a package installer or something like that. I saw this blank app before, but after I saw where it was installed from, I knew it had to have come from something I downloaded online. I went ahead and uninstalled it and Voilà! No more popups.

I had the EXACT issue on my Motorola E5 Plus today (MetroPCS).

I know what caused it...I installed Tasker and imported details to let my phone go into do not disturb mode when I put it face down on a table (like the Pixel 3 supposedly does)

In any case, I followed this thread and had no luck. I took a shot and installed Malwarebytes Anti Malware from the play store. Did a full scan and it found (and removed) the culprit:

"Android/Adware.MobiDash.NC"

Now my phone is back to normal. Can open chrome, lock and unlock my phone and no more of the annoying ads. I felt like yelling "Congratulations!"
