Is there a way to disable the S View?

I bought the 8.4 Tab S and a Speck case that has the option for the screen to come on when you open it. I did not know this when I bought it. Really didn't even know it was a feature of the tablet. I got the case because it's slim, but still protective and has a catch to keep it closed, so I really want to keep the case.

The problem is, I charged the tablet to 95% before going to bed. I was awakened by the sound of the low battery tone about 5 hours later. It looks like as the case relaxes, the top eases up and it triggers the sensors and it thinks the tablet has been opened.

Is there a way to disable this? I've looked around and found no clear answers. Thanks in advance.
