Is there a way to extend the duration of my calls?

Android Central Question

My calls only last 4 hours. I was wondering if you can extend the length of calls because my phone will just hangup on me when I hit 4 hours.

What device? It seems unusual that there is some arbitrary maximum call length but I don't think this is the first time I've heard of this.

Perhaps you could use a voice-over-IP service instead of a regular cellular call - something like WhatsApp, Google Voice, Skype, Hangouts, etc.?

Taking a step back for a minute, why do you need a single call lasting so long?
Might there be a better solution to this "problem"?

Welcome to Android Central! I've seen this mentioned before -- just do a search for "4 hour cell phone call," and you'll see a lot of questions about it. It seems that wireless providers have an arbitrary 4 hour limit to a call, which is probably in case people accidentally forget to hang up on a line that's on hold, as well as to discourage extremely excessive network usage.
