Is there an app to customize screen time out setting?

During certain times of the day I use the phone quite often, but having the screen timeout set to 10 minutes is too tough on my battery, while 2 minutes is too short. Is there an app or a method to customize the timeout to something in-between, like 5 minutes, for example?

That would be why you want the lock screen completely gone. I honestly wish I could help because I know how frustrating it is to not be able to get something I want that theoretically should be really simple.

Well, the latest widget I downloaded only works partially. It's got three options: autolock; never lock; and dim screen with no locking. Of course, the only option that works is the never lock mode, meaning my screen always stays on, unlocked, and never dims. I can literally see my battery's life drain one minute at a time when this mode is enabled.

So, I'm basically back to square one.

Seems kinda limited. Are you rooted? (guess I shoulda asked that sooner, and if you answered it in the other thread and I forgot I apologize.)

If you feel like you might want to root you may as well take the plunge now. The sticky is very thorough. The people here are very helpful. Plus if you root your problem can most likely be solved. I'm not trying to push you into it (ok well maybe a little) but it could solve your problem, and if all you want is the stock look there are ROM's like that.

If you do decide to do it, though, you need to be patient and follow the process very closely.

At this point I don't think it would be worth it, especially since I've read conflicting statements on whether that would be able to accomplish anything.

Hmm well ive been dev for htc phones for awhile now so i think i have a little knowledge.Where is a conflicting story about rooting? I'll tell you right now if you were root you could solve your problems by changing out one file.Im not trying to force root on you and if you don't want thats by all means cool with me,but there is nothing bad about rooting. If you have a windows PC think about it you haev to give programs permission to install.Thats basically what root is allow you to grant permission to things.

Well, one thing's for sure--I first have to make sure I know exactly how to back up all my data and contacts on my EVO! :D

OK, getting this thread back on its original topic--is there an app to customize the timeout for the screen? From 2 minutes to 10 minutes is a rather large jump.
