Is there really lag and battery issues?

The first G3 i had definitely had lag and so does the one i picked up today because I exchanged the old one. So it was lag on the last one and its lag on this one. Not much but the very little lag it does have is noticeable. People made comments or basically comparisons to the M8...which i also have sitting next to me. And i can say that the M8 is smooth as butter when compared to the G3.

As far as battery life...I've been using the phone a lot doing the same things i do with all my devices..surfing the web, Facebook, YouTube, G+ and Hangouts. I can get about 7-8 hours battery life with a SOT of about 4hrs.Now people have been saying after awhile, battery begins to get better. So hopefully that changes.

Now the Overheating issue is what made me exchange my first G3. I was taking video and i got the alert message that phone was too hot...etc. I only used the phone for about 10 minutes before i started to take video. So that really pissed me off. I ended up exchanging it for another G3. The Tech showed me his G3 and he said his always froze when going from the camera to camcorder back to the camera.

These issues can be scattered around. Not every G3 has these issues. That's why I exchanged mine. LG is already pushing out updates to fix the issue and the carriers here in the states should hopefully be pushing them to us soon.

I know i posted the issues i had. But don't let them discourage you from grabbing this beauty. We all expect to get flawless devices but sometimes we get a dud every now and then...lol

I don't have battery issues or lag issues. Battery last me from the time I get up at 4:30am until I go to bed around 10:30 or 11pm...with 25 or 30% to spare...sometimes more. I personally haven't experienced lag at all. But everyone uses their phones different so I'm sure everyone's battery and lag issues will differ.

I would think that the less you use the device, the longer your battery will last. For example if you getting amazing SOT, then i wouldnt think the battery life will be those amazing times that people is reporting.

The battery life during standby time is whats amazing on this devices. So when its on the screen uses much of the battery and decreases they battery life really quick.

And here is my 6h of screen on again.

Browsing and watching youtube. Went from the 5h mark to hit 6. And still got juice left

When people post pics of their Screen On Time, post a pic of your battery tines too .

Im sure some of the battery and SOT is legit, but who's to say people aint charging their devices while they're using it.

Also i believe the stats only reset when the device is charged back up to 100%. So if you have 2hrs SOT and was at 67% battery remaining. But then charged your battery to 95%, the SOT will not reset. It will just add on to the 2Hrs SOT.

So when android L is released, and this switching to ART from Dalvik and we get Volta, shouldn't that maybe address a lot of these performance and battery issues?

The thing is I'm not interested in rooting the phone. So that's why I was wondering if that's the only way people have found to fix any issues?
If you're not interested in rooting, I would say just pick whichever phone you find the most appealing in regards to aesthetics. All are great and will provide an average user experience that you should enjoy without worry.

how is everyone getting 5 hours of screen on time? i only manage about 4
Brightness setting? And how do you use your phone? In short bursts throughout the day or long periods of nonstop usage? This will affect battery life.

What's your screen brightness at? Some people say the screen is too dim but I'm perfectly fine with having it at 0% indoors and 50% outdoors.

Why would I post a piccture of My screen on times when I had my phone on the charger in between?

He was asking about battery life and I told him I get 6h screen on, on a regular base.

I'm no fanboy of any brand!

If it had a **** battery I would have told as well.

I'm even going to give My g3 to my fiance because I promised her my phone if she bought me the OPO.

No lag or battery issues whatsoever.

No overheating issues with screen on full brightness.

Remove phone off charger at 7am, get home around 9pm with 50-60%....brilliant.

I have had my T-Mobile model for 10 days now. I am not rooted and use the stock launcher. I think the phone is pretty quick. I don't really notice lag, but there may occasionally be a hiccup. Then again I am coming from the GS4 which was SUPER laggy and slow. Its definitely not as fast as the Nexus 5, but still pretty fast.

Battery life is good. No complaints there.

I like the screen. I haven't noticed over sharpening of the text, but I would say that a lot of the time I don't notice the difference in resolution from 1080p phones that I've had. I wish the screen was a little brighter like the GS5 my wife has. I'm not a Samsung fan but I have to give them credit with what they did with that screen.

Has anyone played graphics intensive games on the phone? Have you noticed slowdown or frame drops?

People focus a lot on the amount of time the screen's on.... Fact of the matter is that for MOST people, that phone is off far more than its on, and the amount of charge lost while the screen is off can really add up. Most of the time people only pay attention when it gets REALLY bad and they phone goes kaput while sitting on their desk.... yet it can often use up as much juice as when they have the screen on, playing Flappy Bird.

With everything on (like location services, apps with notifications, etc), it is not uncommon for a phone to drain 5% or more an hour, just sitting there. And that can sneak up on you over the course of the day.... you'll take your phone off the charger in the morning and barely touch it and late in the afternoon, it's sitting there at 50% and you're like "WTF?"

But, and this is the good part... it is a hell of a lot easier to gain battery life when your screen is off than when it is on.... To reduce power usage when your screen is on, yes, you can reduce your screen brightness, but to go beyond that, you have to start tweaking kernel functions, underclocking or undervolting, etc.... low level stuff that is often as much an art as it is a science.

I could talk forever about this... but I gotta jet... but I will say this... even though I had to tweak some stuff (the new NlpUnBound Xposed module is da bomb), I have noticed that the G3 does have a noticeably better idle power consumption than my previous phone (Nexus 5). Of course, that's due to a number of factors.... the larger battery, the custom kernel stuff I used on my N5, etc.... still, it's under 1% an hour without disabling anything... I'll take that.

As someine requested here are another 2 picctures. 6h screen on 3 times in a row.

I have a similar experience. I've been above 30% on this phone agonist everyday when going to bed. I take it if the charger at about 6:00am and go to bed around 11:00pm. With light use at work and home I've still been around 70% some days. A few people mentioned the great standby time, I'll also echo that. I've taken the phone off the charger at 6:00am, left it alone until about noon and I've still been during at 100%.

I haven't experienced any of these issues. Every phone I've owned (s4, g2, s5, g3) have shown signs of lag at some point. I don't believe there is a phone out that doesn't lag during certain operations. As far as battery goes I get just as good if not slightly better than my s5. Not as good as the g2 though. Never experienced any overheating issues, I don't play games though. I have used it while charging and still no serious overheating issues. My opinion go with the g3. I liked my s5, but prefer the g3 mainly for the screen size compared to overall phone size. I don't have any experience with the m8 besides a little hands on in the Sprint store all I can say is the speakers make the phone awkwardly large and makes it look horrible.

So, right now I'm really trying to figure what android phone I want to go with (G3, M8,or S5) and I have some questions about the G3.

1. Is there really performance issues with the phone? I hear either that the phones performance is fine or it lags. So I'm wondering if people here have noticed it or if it's been fixed or there has been a fix found?

2. Is the battery life not very good? I hear that the battery life isn't comparable to the S5 or M8. I remember the Nexus 5 having pretty bad battery life, so does the phone have better battery than that phone?

3. Screen quality and overheating. Is there issues with the screen . I've heard there's over sharpening and that the screen causes the phone to possibly overheat. Has anyone noticed this?

1) I have a D851 version. When I first got my phone i understood EXACTLY what the individuals with lagging meant by G3's lagging. I tried the Thermal setting thing(no root needed). Some people stated that the phone wouldn't turn down the brightness with those settings changed hence the overheating. So I reverted back to the original settings. I then changed the animation scales in developer options to .5X, installed Nova's launcher, changed animation speed to fast in the launcher and no lag.

2) Battery life has been excellent. Seriously no complaints. I use audio books and music a lot. I've never timed the phone because i have a wireless charger at work and at home so it's easy to just drop it on it.

3)The screen is great. I have played many videos for up to 29+minutes. I haven't watched anything longer than that. I use the 1440P nature videos on youtube to show people that ask about the screen. Has my phone overheated? Numerous times in the beginning but NOT while playing videos. The last time it happened was last Saturday. I was sitting at in my dining room reading news on Flipboard with screen brightness about 79%. I know this because if i put it up to >90%, the G3 would go up above 110F in a couple of minutes. The only other times that it overheated-shutdown were 100% brightness or running one of the benchmark programs.
Two days ago I installed a new rom from XDA called Skydragon. I'm still trying it out but i'm liking it so far.

OTHER PROBLEMS:
Some people have shown pics of cracks.
I have none at this time.
If I and many others tried to zoom while using the video camera it would crash.
I had this at one point but I flashed a zip camera that someone posted no more crashing.
There is a problem with the audio out jack and people connecting it to their vehicles[/I.
I don't use this. I do use wired headphones while doing some chores. No complaints. I also use Viper and the sound is great.
Would i buy it again?
It's less than a week until the Note 4 is shown so at this time i would probably wait.
If the Note 4 wasn't on the immediate horizon?
Yes i would buy it because I really do enjoy it and the community support is excellent even if you don't want to root.
