Is there such a thing as PUSH for Yahoo Mail?

Thinking about upgrading to the TB. Have Droid Eris now and my Yahoo Mail account is painfully slow to update. Are there any better options with the TB and/or Android Apps?

The only email that does push on android is gmail (although I don't know about if exchange pushes or not) If you are using any other POP3 you can set up gmail to check the account and put them in the inbox. From there it will be pushed to your phone. The problem with yahoo is that they will only allow this if you pay for the service.

I did set it up through the HTC mail app when I got the phone. Also, I do pay the $20/year for Yahoo for the larger file size mailing capability, etc.. Are you saying that because of this I may be able to get PUSH?

I don't pay for Yahoo since I use it as a secondary account but I still get push notifications when using their app rather than HTC's. Give it a shot. :)

I'll give it a try. Any idea if I need to delete the account from the HTC mail app first?

You probably don't have to but my guess is you'd just end up getting double notifications. I don't have anything running through the HTC mail app so I could be wrong, but before you go through the trouble of deleting it from there you might wanna load the Yahoo app and test it out first.

Your HTC app is a "pull" system and will still sync at whatever interval you have it set for and will use battery. By setting it up as in the link I provided (the two are very similar) you eliminate the use of the HTC app accounts and stop all the automatic syncs. The only down side is it will push all the mail to the single Gmail account you have set up. When you send a reply from an incomming email it will say sent by xxxxx@gmail.com on behalf of xxxxx@yahoo.com. To me this is a fair trade off for near instant notification.

Someone more experienced than myself may have a workaround for the single mailbox.

The yahoo mail app pushes, also I used k9 mail for a while and while I don't remember the settings I used if it wasn't push it was close enough. Everything but hotmail was almost instant.
Just turn off notifications and polling in the HTC app while trying out options. Then you don't have to key them in again if you don't like said option...can still check email manually or send from HTC mail if you want then too.
