Is this the beginning of the end for Play Music?

. The other problem with YouTube music premium is it's 10 bucks a month That's expensive for monthly subscription.

not sure about that. if you get to keep your downloads you made during the subscription, then I think it's okay. it's a one music download ticket for each time you get the hang on some new tracks. it's monthly subscription cancel any time.
in the sense of course I have all my music on my device anyway.

and to that other question about built in equalizer. ytm has one

How much storage does your Chromebook have? I thought they had pretty limited onboard storage. Downloading it is pretty straightforward from the GPM app and in the browser. Just go to the album in your library, and the dot menu for the album includes a download option.

Thank you for the tip! It's a little'un as far as storage goes!

No no I'm sorry I meant in order for you to use YouTube music and stream music in the background, you need a premium account. Spotify, Google play music, Pandora... all these services don't require you to pay a monthly fee just to have that feature. I don't have any music download on my phone. I'm not a huge music person. Lol. I hear what you're saying regarding having downloaded music on your phone. However, I don't I just 100% stream my music. I mean sure, it sucks if I'm flying somewhere with no internet connection but 99% of the time in my life, that's not the problem lol

I don’t use YouTube music, I just want and need a decent music player.
Yeah, gotcha... Well if you have downloaded local files on your phone try Poweramp or when I'm media player from the play store. I don't know many music players anymore cuz I haven't had downloaded music on my phone in years.

I understand. I only use music player app (Poweramp Pro) for FLAC and WAV music files. Otherwise I stream, since I either have WiFi available or have plenty of data available. I use streaming to discover new (to me) music in similar genres that I like and haven't purchased. Streaming is great in the car, since I can't stand radio.

I got you. Honestly, I'm loving YouTube music much more-so these days vs Spotify. Much easier for me to use.

Just for fun, I downloaded PowerAmp. Going to mess with it a little to get familiar with it again.

Nice nice go for it! I mean I might be open my mom with that on her pixel 3AXl over to myself. She has locally downloaded music files on her phone. For me, I just stream 100% of my music. And I've been using YouTube music premium now. I love the UI it's easy for me. Spotify is from music and fishing autos... It's very detailed, very in depth almost too much going on in that application for me! From podcasts to different types of music and different aspects of music just too much for me. Lol

I've been focusing on using Spotify this past week to get used to it more. Still don't like the interface as much as Google Play Music. For unclear reasons, the web interface doesn't allow alphabetical sorting (although it's possible in the app). An overview list of albums from a particular artist doesn't show the year it was released. Casting to a home speaker is a bit more involved.

I just canceled my Google Play Music family subscription, but I might end up resubscribing -- this time to YouTube Premium (depending on how tired I get of ads on YouTube). And it wouldn't have to be a family sub, since my daughter (who's under 13) wouldn't be able to use it anyway for music.

Yeah trust me dude I hear you. I couldn't get used to spotify's UI either. I like YouTube musics UI much better.

I agree that Spotify has a different UI that I am not accustomed to - but admittedly, I have only really used Google Play Music.

Aaaand I ended up re-subscribing, this time to YouTube Premium, because I figured YouTube ads would get on my nerves before too long, and it comes with YouTube Music. So $12/mo for a single plan -- still less than the $15/mo I was paying for the GPM family plan, but I currently don't need the family plan, since my kid wouldn't be able to access it anyway.

Mhmmm interesting interesting idea! I'm most likely going to pay for YouTube music premium in the future myself. The interface is just great, and I'm used to it by now.

I still haven't been prompted to migrate my library, but the trial I had to accept and start when I first launched the app is expiring and I still haven't been able to really try using it the way I plan to use it.

Let us know how you like YouTube Premium! My husband suggested I try Spotify or Amazon's Music UI (we have Prime); but I've paid for my music on GPM so I figure I may have to go to YT to make it more worthwhile. :|
