I see.. Thank you.
So is "T-Mobile? Micro SIM Card Activation Kit" which is on Tmo's website and costs $10 the right one?
If yes then I will get it from T-Mobile directly.
im so confused , i dont know which one i should ask for t mobile or walmart ! so stupid walmart guy, he just sold the sim kit to me and nothing tell me to do to acvite the sim
Just received my new Nexus 4 from Google today. I ordered the activation kit from tmobile just now. I went ahead and paid for overnight shipping so I can have it friday. i had planned to get their unlimited plan for $70 per month but I think i'll just try this $30 for a month. I should be fine with 5GB of data.
Yes, that is correct kit. It will arrive in the mail after a few days. The kit comes with a micro SIM card and a paper with the activation code and instructions on how to activate the SIM. To get the $30/month plan with 5 GB of high-speed data, you MUST follow the instructions for activating the SIM card online. Calling T-Mobile or visiting a T-Mobile store will not get you the 5 GB data plan because the employees do not have that plan in their computers to give it to you. (It's silly, isn't it?)
Basically, you go to the T-Mobile website per the instructions, enter the SIM card (ICCID) number and activation code, and select a zip code. T-Mobile will assign a local number to you based on the zip code. Your SIM card will come with $3.34 pre-installed. Of course, the plan you want costs $30, so you need more funds in your account. You can enter in a credit card number, redeem a code from a prepaid top-up card bought from a store, or get a code from the internet. Many people like Callingmart, which is an online vendor for prepaid mobile service, including T-Mobile. Callingmart often has sales, so you can get $30 worth of T-Mobile credit for less (like 5% off if they're having a sale), and they have a rewards program that gives you a discount towards future refills. You can buy a $30 refill from Callingmart using a credit card, and they'll email the code to you.
Once you add $30 to your T-Mobile account, you can select a plan. Be sure to choose the correct one! There is ANOTHER $30 plan that only has 30 MB of data. (Yes, it's confusing!) You want the one with 100 voice minutes, unlimited texts, and 5 GB of high-speed data (throttled to slower speeds if you exceed this quota). If you go over 100 voice minutes, you will get charged 10 cents/minute, but only if you have money in your account. (Some people like to put an extra $10 into their account to handle this situation.)
In 30 days, your plan will expire. You will need an additional $30 to continue your plan for another 30 days. You can set up an auto-renew with a credit card, or you can simply redeem more refill codes to fund your account. Some people want to cancel because they don't get adequate coverage or they want to go to another service. To cancel, you simply stop paying, and your SIM will be deactivated after 60 days of inactivity without payment. A deactivated SIM card cannot be reused, so you can throw it away. If you want to restart service, you need to buy a new SIM card activation kit.
On a related note, T-Mobile Prepaid does not offer conditional call forwarding, which is necessary if you want to use Google Voice to handle your voice mail. To fix this, you can go to the T-Mobile website and start an online chat session with a customer service representative. You can ask to completely shut off your T-Mobile voice mail. Customer service can do that for you. They may need to ask your phone's IMEI number and your SIM card ICCID number.
Hope this helps!
It's right here, about 2/3 the way down the page: Prepaid Cell Phone Plans, No Annual Contract | Monthly 4G | T-Mobile
Yeah, but I'm not sure i'll be on it long though. I had planned to forward my calls from my Sprint S3 to the Nexus when i'm out and don't want to carry two phones. The 100 minutes likely won't be enough. The plan is perfect if you use more data than voice.

How many minutes will you likely use? If you go over it's 10? per minute over 100 (or an extra $10 per 100 minutes), so you can still keep the cost well under $70.
It sure beats paying $82 a month with AT&T who gives you much less data. I had only 200 text messages and to get unlimited, I would have to pay nearly $`100.
Thanks Scott!
Two last questions:
1. If I have enough balance in my account, let's say I still have $60 in my account after I paid this time, will they automatically charge $30 from my account after 30 days? Or do I will have to like go online and choose something like "refill by using the balance in my account"? I just want to know if they automatically charge and continue the service as long as I have enough balance in my account.
2. I have a T-mobile number now and I want to keep it and move it to the $30 prepaid plan. Do I do this online after I get all the procedures that you mentioned done?
Thank you!
really? I missed that. I'll probably go that route. I just hope that HSPA+ is still fast here in the DFW area. My S3 on Sprint is almost useless data-wise at my new job. I used to have T-Mobile and I know they had good coverage here. How many minutes will you likely use? If you go over it's 10? per minute over 100 (or an extra $10 per 100 minutes), so you can still keep the cost well under $70.
I know Nexus 4 does had "some" LTE chip (and they disabled it after an update). Will I still get HSPA+ from T-M ?
