is VoLTE still on EE branded firmware only in the UK?

To get VoLTE do you still need to buy direct from EE (or install EE firmware) or do the unbranded handsets direct from Samsung have it now?

Considering a note Vs pixel 2XL and not sure whether to buy on contract or direct if I go for the note

I have the option to enable it on my unlocked handset direct from Samsung but I'm using a BT SIM which doesn't support WiFi calling as yet, next best thing.....WhatsApp

I read that is always enabled on models unable to toggel it. so I would assume if you are unable to toggel it, this should be always on in your phone.
