Is your smartphone more than what you need?

Moto has a GREAT line of up of mid tier phones. And a pretty good track record for quality, although not so good for updates,

I don't think I will ever spend more than $600 for a phone again. And I would like to think less than $500. But that's what I keep telling myself anyways....
They sure do. I haven't been disappointed at all with the Moto G4 Plus. Had the original Moto G a while back and liked that one as well.

The "that's what I keep telling myself anyways..." is me in a nutshell. ;)

Actually I feel that smartphone isn't the more expensive the better. If it can fit your daily use, that's enough
Then why don't we just stop there? Why the need to own what the general public would deem the best of that's more than what we need? Those are the questions I constantly ask myself.

My LG V10 is about right, its a good fit for what I need.

I have fat stubby fingers so I need a screen this size to text message others. I was going insane on my iPhone 5C, literally maddening mis-typing every 5-6 letters ... its just too small. Yes I do need to text message or at least receive text. There are many times I can not answer a voice call. While Driving and in company meetings for example. My son is autistic so there are many times I need to be reachable. I just don't have the luxury of logging off completely. Its hard to really understand this unless you are responsible for one who has a mental disorder.

I need removable batteries, plain and simple. Walking around with a battery bank and USB cable plugged in just doesn't cut it. USB-B is so frail and fragile, I don't feel confident using it this way. As a boy scout parent leader, we are backpacking and driving into some pretty remote locations 1-2 weekends every month. Given my pack size/weight constraints, I consider it a must carrying 6-9000 mah reserve spare battery versus the same capacity as a bank and a USB cable.

One thing I have been wondering is how much better satellite (actual) GPS is compared to cellular "GPS". I think the former is pretty good. I think I could make the argument that I really don't need cell phone driving GPS. One thing I absolutely can not do, is read a map while driving... that's borderline suicide.

I really didn't get to do much more when i upgraded from my old S4 to an S6 edge, the only thing i can really take advantage off is the upgraded camera and the RAM, but i am pretty much using the same way and doing the exact same things. To be honest if i wanted to be productive and at the same time have a device that could help me do almost any task i'd get a laptop.

You're right on Target with this phone conception @Dr.WayNewWill..I'm from
those users, who doesn't need a $800+ Phone like Notet7--Not 'cause
I can't afford, but dislike to cooperate..Too much
to make the Apple or Samsung

Richer's-Huha! Obviously users nowadays can't live, without Phone's Data.
but get in Hot water, with a Phone that offers Extra features,.No way
Androids..I stay with my Sam-Gs7: No heat-No battery explosion

I agree with you there. I feel like I'm just as productive using a flagship Android or a budget Android or and iPhone. It doesn't really make a difference. I can roll with just about any smartphone today and get what I need to get done because all of them have web browser and ultimately that's all I would need to be productive.

Me the same.. I am not sure if I should buy a really expesive smartphone, if I use my current one only for calling and messaging) I would gladly change my phone, if a current one is damaged or I simply want something new)

I will never again spend top dollar for a smartphone. Just not practical.
In theory I know you are correct and I should be right there with you. When I use my current budget device I know it's everything I need. I just have to resist the urge to splurge.

I find it weird that I tend to cherish my smartphone more than any other electronic device. And I tend to use it more as well but I'm not sure why. For much of what I use my smartphone for i coukd have a better experience if I were to use my Chromebook. I do not baby my Chromebook nor do I cherish it like I do my smartphone.

Probably because it's with you all the time, like a good friend.

Since the tragic loss of my note3. My wife had picked up a device from Cricket. And the service and data are top notch.
I had to pick up a device rather quickly. So I went to the Cricket store. Y'all don't laugh, but I found the LG stylo2. 5.7" screen, a stylus I like better than the note3. I like the power and volume on the back, 3,000 mah battery, very good screen to body ratio, running marshmallow.
..And the best part, next to the AMAZING battery life. I walked out the door for $208.00!
Im talking about phone, activation, $70.00 truly unlimited high-speed data, decent bumper case, and glass screen protector.
Battery stats below.. final 15 percent was on automatic powersaver. 6:36min. screen on time!

That's a great deal!

That's a great deal!
I was in love with the note3. Was gonna get another one. The note4 @ 5 didn't appeal to me. I was thinking of the note7. Of course for now I'm glad I didn't get one. It's too early to really judge this phone, but I'm loving the heck outta it for now!
If the note7 comes back out with freebies, and a discounted price, I might get one.

Currently using Note5 and so far I'm contended with its features. Now that the Note7 is out it never cross my mind to upgrade to it.

So far I'm enjoying the idea of the budget Android smartphone. Cheaper cost, lower monthly bill because of no installments, mine is unlocked so no carrier bloat and I can take it to another carrier if I like, meets all my needs with the exception of mobile payments, sturdier than my last flagship, and wouldn't cost much to replace it if it broke. Not base for a $300 device. My battery lasts me 24 hours. So no charging at work or in the car. With fast charging, I charge in the morning when I wake up while I'm getting ready for the day. It's been an awesome experience.
