issue of phone screen turning on by itself

Thought I would start a thread for this since others have mentioned it happening to them as well, hopefully we can find a solution...

My symptoms are: phone not always charging when plugged in and the screen turns on every couple seconds by itself
Wakelock detector didnt show any full-wakes..
I tried a factory reset and didnt install anything afterward and the screen still turns on by its self...
Im out of warranty, so can get a replacement...
any other ideas?

Did you check for wakeup triggers in Wakelock Detector?

Just had to return a device to Verizon due to these issues. They said it has to do with certain pins in the charging port, and being to close to the screen, which can happen over time or in refurbished devices. There are forums online that go step by step into how to fix the port if you are adventurous.

Thanks the instructions in #161, they worked for me!!

For me, it was a simple matter of changing the adapter.
I changed my power adapter for charging, and the problem went away immediately.
I assume it was the result of either drawing too much power, or not enough to charge the phone.
Anyway, try that before you go hacking your phone apart!
