Issue sending pictures.

Every once in a while when I want to share a picture with a friend via text message it sends to their email not their phone (mms).

The steps I use are I select the share icon select messages for the share method. Then my contacts come up I select who I want to send it to and when i type the message to go with the picture it has their email not their phone number.

My note 8 never had this issue. Is their a setting I need to check?

Sorry for the basic question, but can you confirm that the contact does in fact have a phone number associated with it, and in the correct field?

Contact has phone number and email. They somehow are defaulting to their email not their phone number.

I'm not sure if Samsung's Contacts app acts differently from Google's, but select that Contact and long-press the cell number. What options do you get there? Make sure it's set as default.

In contacts choose that person like your going to edit then 3 dots upper right corner tap, then choose add/ delete links

Ok here goes. Originally I would share using the yellow arrow, this would some how force it to his email. But if I share using the red arrow it works sending it as a mms.

The red arrow in the next picture is who I am selecting to send to.

And the last one is showing that it is going into the previous conversation not a new email.

Not sure what changed but the yellow arrow method used to work fine for sharing.

Now trying a picture from my gallery as a test. Gallery is sharing like normal no issues.

The yellow arrow method seems to be forcing to any of my contacts emails instead of their phone number (mms). Not sure why. I would share using the yellow arrow method about 3 weeks ago with out issue. Then noticed that I was not getting replies back. That is when I started to scroll back and noticed that the messages I sent did not get replies it seems that the messages went to their emails not the (mms).

Let's try couple things
First reset app preference
This can be done in settings >apps tap it>3dots upper right corner tap and scroll to app preferences and reset

Now the red arrow option with giphy is now defaulting to everyone with an email if they are not in the top recents section (red arrow). Maybe I will search for a better app for gif's.
