Issue with 3rd party messaging apps

Like what's your thinking about the Samsung message causing this ? I have both on my phone and no issues. So I like you to look at something , go into settings >accounts>back up look at Google back up is everything sync with messages , look at data last sync compared to others on the list sync.

Because go sms and Google messages are having the same issue. I don't have messages under sync for my Google account. Just notes, Gmail, calendar etc. I am signed into a smasung account.

That might issue for why it's not for google message app , how long you had that app on the phone? , possible might take time to populate. For the other message app I cant say because I dont use it .

Just downloaded it today. Tried in the past with the same issue so always deleted it. Figured I would try to get it to work this time. So the Google messages app will have a sync button under my account like Gmail, keep, music etc?

Gotcha, thanks. I was looking under the account sync settings and not the back up settings. My backup is slightly different. But I mainly use Samsung account as a back up.

Tried contacting Google for help and they don't have support for messages. Might just start fresh and call it a day.

I think leave Google message couple days let it populate see what happens then contact Google

So I have a att s7 active that is unlocked and I put my tmobile Sim in when I do some jobs so I don't mess up my s8. I back up my s8 texts via Samsung and restore them on the s7 so that it's always up to date (for work purposes). So I just backes up the s8 and restore it on the s7. The s7 has every text the s8 does when viewed in the Samsung messages app. I installed Google messages on the s7, and the same texts that are missing on the s8, are missing on the s7. Maybe it has something to do with the data? Definitely very weird.

Yup. I just tried exporting my text data with two different apps. They didn't pick up my outgoing texts sent with Samsung messages. If I click the details of a sent text, they are "chat" if sent to an android phone or "text message+" if to an iPhone. The outgoing text sent via Google message is just "text message". I think this is the issue.

It's definitely strange , I'll check mine tommorow I don't have my note 10+ with me now , but like I said I have the Samsung and Google messages exactly the same sent and received both apps , but my Google like I showed is sync up and my Samsung .

Thanks again for your help. I think the other responder was on to something. Any messages sent via text or rcs will not transfer over. The missing incoming messages were also chats. I did not realize my phone was sending rcs messages to iPhones.

Sending RCS to iPhone is technically impossible right now.

Right. Sending them in the stock messaging app resulted in text message+ though. Maybe it's a tmobile thing? Sending a text to an iPhone in Google messages is just a plain old text message.

Yes Google RCS vor stock Samsung with RCS to iPhone will be regular

Hey all, I'm having the same problem and I literally just posted a question in the question-and-answer section. I have a Galaxy S10 plus and I'm trying to switch to Google SMS. I've been using the stock Samsung app for many years. I also upgrade my phones annually. When I do the Samsung switch and transfer I have about 10,000 text messages and yet when I use the SMS backup and restore its only finding 5000. And just like everybody else, I'm only getting the incoming messages and not the outgoing messages. I do recall at some point in the past I was switching between the apps and I never had a problem like this. So I'm not sure what the issue is.
