Issue with App Download via Verizon Network/WIFI

Brand new Motorola Razr - Android v2.3.5:

When I try to download or update an app using the Verizon network I get a notification, due to file size it must be loaded via a wifi connection, but when I turn on the wifi connection I cannot connect to the market. Message: no connection. Catch 22, cannot update existing apps or download anything new. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
 
Does the wifi network you're connected to have an internet connection?

Try rebooting the phone.
