Guys,

I am having a real issue with contacts. I seem to have joined contacts with google and t-mobile and a lot of the contacts have duplicated numbers. No matter how many times I choose to hide the t-mobile contacts they always show back up. I would like to just delete them but I can't seem to be able to. Any ideas?

If you create a contact using your phone, make sure you associate it with your Google account so it syncs up. Once you have all contacts synced with Google, you can go into GMail and there's an option to find/merge duplicate contacts.

I logged into google and saw the merge contacts option but that is only for duplicate google contacts. I want to delete all the t-mobile contacts.

Can you manually delete them from your phone? Or is there an account you can un-sync from under Settings>Accounts and sync?

I got rid of them by holding down the name till a another screen came up with the option to delete them showed up. None of mine have come back. I had duplicates of 3 for each.

Yeah that worked but it took forever because I have over 300 contacts. I can't believe there isn't an easier way - like an option to just delete all t-mobile contacts or at least a button to separate all.

I know. It took me forever also and every time I go in my contacts I find some I missed. I also hate that you can create groups although it says there is an option in the manual online. My phone doesnt have the icons it should show or the things its telling me to select. I ended up having to find an app to create groups. That should have been standard on these phones.

And DON'T sync contacts if you use 2 different accounts. (I always use yahoo and had to create a gmail to use this phones features.) I synced EVERYTHING and now my contacts have a BOZILLION entries in there with lots of multiples. I'll be here all day deleting these plus more ...AGAIN!

:(

Crap! All the t-mobile contacts just came back even though I turned off sync on that account. The only way I know to get rid of the t-mobile account is to reset the phone to factory default settings and I don't want to spend the time setting everything up again. Any suggestions?

That's strange that they would come back when the account is not setup to sync. Did you disable that account from syncing, or did you delete it? And are you sure it's your T-Mobile contacts and not, say, Facebook ones?

Well - I gave up. I logged into my T-Mobile account online and deleted all the contacts. I then performed a factory reset on the phone and synched the google contacts. That was the only way I could find to stop the duplicated contacts.

I discovered the same thing. T-Mo had (unbeknownst to me) turned-on Sync with T-Mobile contacts, which was apparently some subset of my contacts (again, unbeknownst to me) that were stored to my T-Mo account several phones ago (some were outdated by years).

It was a pain, but I did what you did... Found that I could delete them from within the T-Mo site (and make sure that you have T-Mo contact syncing turned-off on your phone, so that it won't happen again).

Yeah that worked but it took forever because I have over 300 contacts. I can't believe there isn't an easier way - like an option to just delete all t-mobile contacts or at least a button to separate all.

I just wish there was an option to move my TMobile Backup contacts over to Google so I can actually sort them into groups and things. I have all my contacts from my previous phone, which is good, but I can't do anything with them that I want. :-\

Log on to T-mobile web site. On the bottom right, in the mobilelife section on the bottom right, click contacts then manage contacts. From there you can delete all the contacts at once.
