Android Central Question

Hello, a friend of mine is having issues with playback of YouTube videos on her phone (her device is an LG K4, 2017 model), and since me and a bunch of her other friends collectively tried to find a solution to this issue, resulting in failure, I decided to look for help on here.

So basically, when attempting to play a YouTube video on the official app, it does play, but it shows a black screen, there's only audio. Going into full-screen mode offers no change. She can use the video controls, such as fast-forward and pause, but she doesn't see the actual content, only a black screen, and the audio of the video. It's worth mentioning that after a certain time her phone locks itself, which wouldn't normally happen when a YouTube video is playing. This same problem occurs when watching YT from the Chrome browser, but all other apps, with no exception, play videos perfectly fine.

So she's tried the following things: rebooting the phone, popping off the battery and putting it back in, updating the app and completely uninstalling it and reinstalling it. We also tried to sideload an older version of the YouTube APK onto her phone to see if that would make a change, but it did not. The only solution we can think of that would likely solve this is hard resetting the phone, but she wouldn't want to, for obvious reasons.

If someone could help out with this issue, it would be greatly appreciated, as it has been driving my friend nuts over the past few days. Thanks a lot.
