Issues So Far with GSIII

I got my white S3 last week and absolutely LOVE IT!

I have yet to find any threads with known issues or bugs, so I thought I'd start one.

Thus far, my only issues are:

- Video capture skips when using touch-to-focus. Focus works well, just causes a stutter each time.

- Anti-shake in video capture causes crazy vibrations. I saw this in a video review and see it on my device as well.

- In the gallery, randomly, when playing back a video the screen dims to what looks like 10%.

I'd love to know where to direct bugs and issues, I just haven't found anything yet. Feel free to chime in and add yours as well!

UPDATE: The dim video playback is actually a video player setting. It has its own screen brightness controls that are independent of the general screen brightness settings.

WiFi randomly and frequently drops connection and reconnects on any and all access points I have used.

I have one issue, i have my wifi turned off and it randomly turns on and I get the available wifi notification in my status bar (as if it found a list of available wifi's to connect to).

I clearly didn't turn the wifi on, it automatically turned on / wake up and is searching for a signal.

@SourDieseL I believe your 'issue' is a 'feature'. I saw one of the review videos that you can enable your wifi to turn on and off as you arrive or leave locations. So I am guessing this is enabled and it is trying to connect to preferred access points. I believe sprint is going to have this option pushed to all new android devices to mitigate their horrible 3g speeds. You should be able to disable under your network configuration.

I've dug in and can't find how to disable this feature. Any chance someone can navigate me there?

Nevermind I found it --

Yep sprint has this but I believe in the podcast Phil said ATT doesn't.

+1 for sprint.

So far I am disappointed with the battery life of my S3. I don’t know what I am doing wrong. I don’t have anything running as far as I know. I have the battery percentage turned on and I charged the phone and watch the percentage and it goes down fast in my opinion. A single charge only last me a day because I don’t use the phone that much. Also my hand motions don’t work at all been trying all day to get the “palm swipe to take a screen shot to work” and “palm cover to mute” and nothing happens. I also keep getting notifications for emails that I have already checked. Anyone else having these problems? I don’t see the point in taking it to the service center or calling since it seems like the consumers know more about the phone then people working for Sprint…..:'(

It is not much of an improvement over my galaxy s2. Having seconds thoughts is it wworth blowing an upgrade on... I don't like the scrolling in web pages . Nova 3 is not compatible... wtf is that?

For palm swipe use the side of your palm and go from left to right. I haven't had email issues, and try turning on power save for more battery life. I don't know if having the battery percentage on is a good thing, either way your battery is discharging. I personally wouldn't want to watch it go down little by little, I'd shut it off. You don't want to drive yourself mad.

I'm actually a bit disappointed in my phone as well. Battery life is Ok but nothing better than what my friend gets on his galaxy s2. Web browsing is driving me nuts. The screen is a little too sensitive some times and other times doesn't pick up what I'm pressing. I don't hate the phone, just not quite what I was hoping for, though who knows what that was.

Exactly the screen is nice and all but it doesn't make too much of a difference in web or vids. I am going to return mine in a few hours

Just got my phone today and with some web browsing I immediately noticed how often it doesn't register taps for links. It's so common I could video tape it if I wanted to invest the effort. One link I had to tap *6* times to get it to finally register and go! Other times it goes fine, it's hit or miss. It's not the touch screen because it works perfectly fine everywhere else, seems to be something with the browser and it's got me quite concerned I must say - it's THAT frustrating! And how could they miss that in product testing??? (On AT&T here btw, just saw your thread and figuring I'd respond)

Can't say in having any battery issues especially coming from my evo.

some things i'm doing:

when wifi is connected turn off mobile data. no need for both.
on power save mode i tone down emails and web.
whenever i use the phone before ending I always clear the cache.
I always keep brightness on the screen at 30% or so.
All vibration is turned off including keypad.
Sync is turned off (I can't figure out how to sign out of google talk though)

Sorry coming from an evo you do everything to save your battery.

Samsung is notorious for rushing products before the firmware is solid. Stick it out for a few months and they will have an update for bugs. I bought all Samsung products before my Razr. TV, mp3 player, phones all had glitchy firmware initially installed. All were fixed eventually. TV is awesome now, don't really use the mp3 any more
