Issues with keyboard/typing after update

Okay, I feel like nothing is working after my update. Here are a few of the issues I'm having. I'm hoping someone can help me figure out the setting corrections I need to make to get functionality back.

When texting, if I click on the proper word suggestion I no longer get the punctuation options, but I get a "next word" suggestion. I cannot find where to turn this off in the Samsung keyboard.

The first letter of the first word is capitalized, but it will not capitalize "i" in the middle of a sentence.

If I start to type a word and then click on the proper suggestion, it appends the proper word to what I have already typed. So if I type "th" and then click "thanks" the end result is "ththanks." Sometimes it even deletes the entire text/email and just replaces it with "ththanks" which means I lose minutes of typing. So frustrating.

Random letters are being capitalized in the middle of a word.

Now all my texts look like I am an idiot incapable of typing, when in reality I am just an idiot incapable of figuring out how to fix these settings.

I can also no longer find my Samsung dictionary.

Stupid update. Help? Thanks in advanced.

I gave up on the stock keyboard almost as soon as I got my S3, so I can't help other than to suggest you try out Swiftkey. It is so much better in every respect the the stock keyboard it's easily worth the few bucks in costs.

Just a note that I was also having keyboard issues after the 4.1.2 update. I use the version of Swype that comes with the phone. When I would tap into a text area, no keyboard would show up sometimes after several seconds and re-taps of the dialog area. To resolve, I went into the app manager and cleared the cache and data from both the Samsung keyboard and Swype. After doing this, the first time I tapped into a text entry area, Swype prompted me to create a swype sync account (to save my settings to Swype?). I've never seen this dialog box before. After creating an account, the swype keyboard has been working normally.

I noticed this as well.
Solution: press the space bar twice (slow enough to not insert a "." ) and then press the delete key and the punctuations marks appear.
Great update, NOT!

I also started having problems with the keyboard with the update. The q and the a on the keyboard stopped working. I tried clearing cache, pull battery etc but nothing worked. Before I headed to the sprint store I decided to do a full reset and it seems to have cleared the issue for now.

The capital letter when holding down the button has also stopped which is annoying.
Comming from a blackberry, the stock keyboard is practically the same as the bb keyboard which I loved since I didnt need to adapt to it.

However, the caps dont work which I always use and is bl00dy annoying. Might have to try an app now which id rather not for a small little silly thing.

the issue came back after about 4 days so I am wondering if the cache gets corrupted or something. The next time it shows up I plan to install swiftkey and see if i get the same results.
