It feels so much better without a case.

The glass back is enough to scare me into a case love the pixel 3XL

I suppose if I were so inclined I could sit on the center of my bed, take my cover off the Pixel, and fondle it. In real life, there is way I'd walk around with an $800 phone in my pocket with no case. Of course, the "that's what insurance is far" works just as well as it does for people who leave their doors unlocked and their car keys in the ignition.

Well said.

Leaving your car doors unlocked with keys in the ignition is a poor analogy for not using a case for your phone. That analogy would work if the argument was for people who don't protect their cell phone with any sort of lock screen code or biometrics.

Not to go to far off topic but it's illegal to leave keys in the ignition even with the door locked.

Hmm well that's interesting. Although I've had a car with a push button start for so long that inserting keys into an ignition is starting to feel like when I see a VCR.

Lol. I highly doubt anyone has ever gotten in real trouble for doing this otherwise everyone running from their driveway inside would be in trouble :P.

Funny you should say that...I once parked with keys in the ingnition so I could run into a store across the street. When I came out there was a foot cop by my car and thought he was going to write me for being illegally parked. He said no....you can't leave the car running. I said but it's locked. I was told it doesn't matter because someone, especially an underage driver could break in and crash the car. He didn't ticket just advised me not to do it
On private property it might be a different story but you're still liable for negligence in addition to damage caused by your vehicle

Well yeah ... Going across a street into a store and leaving it running I could see. I said the driveway lol. Plus you got caught easier since you live in a major city. I promise in my area that would fly ;).

Also not sure how my vehicle could do any damage in park but .. k.

Was it real cop or mall cop?

There is an argument to be made. For example, my truck has a remote start. When activated the vehicle starts and the doors lock without a key in the ignition, although there is a seperate key hidden within the dash. If the the brake is touched, which is required to move shifter, the vehicle shuts off unless the other key is entered into the ignition. Can I go now officer?

Real cop and the rule is real....I think he was new and being aggressive.

It the case of remote starts it can't be driven away without a key. The law applies to keys in the ignition....at least in N.Y.

Anyway I'd rather not continue this because it's off topic. OK to deviate once in awhile but we've strayed longer than we should.

It's fascinating to track the unfolding of this thread from point A (feels so good without a case) to point B (the legality of leaving keys in the ignition with your car running).

We could make a game show out of it! Here's point A and here's point B, identify the logic that connects them. You have 30 seconds! Go!

Haha really. Then again, the topic of putting a case on your phone or going naked has been going around for so long that it always seems to go off topic anyhow. I mean, how many more threads like these need to happen?

Oh, I think they should be a monthly staple. A reminder for those like me that have fallen into the trap of the naked colony and scratched my phone.

I've learned my lesson and now I step up against the nudist movement! Spare others the pain.

Someone needs a reminder that phones are fragile? I see at least one person per day with a cracked screen or phone in my travels. If I never saw another I wouldn't need a reminder....lol

I'm not referring to the extremes, like cracking your screen. You could do that even with all sorts of cases they sell. Just look on Amazon where people post pictures of how "the case didn't protect their phone." I am referring to that big scratch across the back because of some sand in your pocket. Or the scratch on your screen from setting it face down on ...something.

I didn't just mention screens. Cases do help protect the screen though. No matter how we slice and dice the discussion it's clear that without protection you increase risk of damage.

Yeah it feels good naked. Not sure if you had the Pixel 2/2XL OP, but that was quite terrible as it felt plastic. The Pixel 3 actually feels premium.

I just don't like how the soft touch back picks up scratches so easily, I have to wipe it down all the time.

I liked the plastic phones . They had removable batteries.
They could take a impact of being dropped much better.

Now we got glass back phones
They are not durable . Won't take a impact.
Break easy.
Look at the cost if you need a battery replaced cause you want to keep the phones longer.

I'd much rather have a plastic phone. Water proof, wirelesd charging, replaceable battery.
You could use a small battery, or buy a larger battery as a spare.
I'd take a plastic phone any day over a glass back phone.

The mfg should make them both ways.
See what customers like the best.

No
They were made plastic.
Then they made glass, to make the people have something be real nice.
Nice but not durable.
And we lost things we liked.

Plenty of people even today, still want phones with removable batteries.
They won't go back to plastic , because they say they can't make them waterproof.

And people with money want jewelery phones that cost more.
People has to have a phone, thats like a diamond ring.
Flashy to show off.
It's not durable. You can't replace nothing.
We went backwards going to glass backs that scratches and break's easy.

I've been with phones since the Panasonic lunch box phone.
And you paid like 55 cents a minute to use it.

And battery life was like 2 hrs.
And you spent over 500.00 a month to use it.

Mfg had you now.
Replace your phone all the time.
