It is official No Micro SD - Product Fail

So now that a few more people have actually used one, "fail" sure is nice isn't it?

I've tried all the Honeycomb Tabs, and decided this is the one to keep :)

If you need an SD card, then this one isn't for you. The rest of us, well, we just don't care :)

yes, an admin can be a fanboy sometimes, too :)

You're right... Going back and looking, I didn't see the SD adapter either. But given the option of the two (SD and USB) which would you rather have? You can do far more with USB, including use an SD reader

Good point. USB SDcard readers are pretty cheap. They run about 10 bucks.
Guess I'll get the USB Adapter through Samsung, and a USB SDcard reader from the web.

The SD card & usb adapter is suppose to be for the 8.9 only...look at the video of the unveiling of the tabs at exactly 23:03.

YouTube - ‪Samsung Unveils GALAXY Tab 10.1 and GALAXY Tab 8.9‬‏

I saw that video before & thought that as well, but those that got theirs from the Best Buy in NY on the 8th said otherwise.
Also if you go the Samsung site, it will list the accessories. Click on the item to view additional information. Near the bottom of the page there's an area that says "Will this accessory work with my Product".
Type in "samsunggalaxy". It will begin to filter products they have. You should see the 10.1 wifi version appear in the dropbox. Select it and it will confirm that it's supported.

It looks like the usb only adapter and not the usb/sd card adapter available for the 8.9 only.

Yeah, you're probably right. Hopefully the USB adapter can access a USB card reader. If so, I can pickup one for less than 10 bucks.

So it looks like you can connect a thumb drive, which is much more useful than a SD card.

I agree. If it can access files from a USB hard drive that will be even better. I have a 1 TB USB drive that's fairly small & easy to travel with.

I was thinking about USB adapter then getting 32gb mini thumb drive.

But its so sad they decided to nix the microSD slot onto this, without a doubt it would've been the #1 iPad killer. Now I'm thinking Asus Transformer will get that title.

I don't care.. I have already sync at least 18000 songs on Google music.. that is actually saving me a space.

Engadget (and likely other sites as well) reported today that Samsung just released a USB adapter for the 10.1 for $20 in case you hadn't seen that. So that takes care of the USB concerns. I'm sure whatever dock they come up with will have more USB and maybe even an SD reader if the minions complain enough. ;-)

Honestly, the only time I have ever used my usb port was to transfer music to my xoom. With google music that isn't a problem any more. If you wanted to plug a mouse or keyboard into the xoom you needed a dongle anyway. I do hope that future generations of tablets start including full sized usb ports.
