this has happened probably 3 times already. it usually shuts down suddenly when i unplug the charger.

then the strange thing about it is that, i can't turn it on just by pressing the power button at all. usually, i can just press it for a few seconds, it will be turned on again.

but when this kind of thing happens, i have to keep pressing on the power button for a long time, maybe almost a minute, for several times, then it will work again.

could this be caused by some kind of app problem or it is indeed a defective tablet?

does anyone else have similar problems?

Do you have a case on it? If so, take it off & test it again. If it still does it, I would do a factory reset. If it still does it, return/exchange it.

i don't have a case.

i have already have lots of apps installed, if i do a reset, then i will have to install all of them again, right?

also, it doesn't happen everyday. in about 1.5 months, it happened only about 3 times. once i turned it on, it works just fine.

i got used to the windows pc, they crash or stop working once in a while, it is expected.

so should i really do a reset?

This probably won't help, but it won't hurt either. Before you try a factory reset, try clearing the system cache partition, which is where temporary system data and logfiles are stored. Sometimes leftover stuff there can mess things up (sorry for my technical jargon there). Steps are as follows:

  1. If your tablet is on, power it off.
  2. Press and hold Power until the device powers on, then immediately press and hold Volume Down (while still pressing Power). You will see the word Start with an arrow drawn around it.
  3. Press Volume Down twice to designate Recovery mode.
  4. Press Power to restart into Recovery mode. You will see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark.
  5. While holding down Power, press Volume Up.
  6. Use the volume keys to scroll to "wipe cache partition" and press Power to select it.
  7. When complete, highlight "reboot system now" and press Power to select it.

Yes, this has happened enough times for me to search for others and this is how I found you. I'm sure this is an app but who knows which one and I don't want to factory reset for this. I have found the work-around is to unlock the screen before unplugging from a dead sleep. That seems to work for now until they can figure it out. Only once did it still go out after unplugging but most of the time it will be ok. When it does go dead it comes back on like a regular power shut down with no problems.

At this point I will have to wait until they come out with a new upgrade/patch and or the problem app finds it and send their upgrade fix.

Standing by.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you able to power back on by pressing and holding Power for about 20 seconds? If so, is the battery level the same as when it shut off, or is it a lot lower? If the latter, then the battery is probably failing.

Also, is the tablet pretty warm when it suddenly shuts off?

My Hipstreet tablet I have had for years and now using a newer tablet, the Hipstreet tablet I have has a battery that likes to shut the tablet down after 30 to 15 seconds of being unplugged, and sometimes goes to 0%

Welcome to Android Central! The battery is probably near its end of life and can't hold a charge. You'd have to get the battery replaced, assuming the tech could find a proper replacement.
