It'll be worth the wait

Could someone explain why so many people are excited about the thunderbolt? I'm not really seeing how it's so much better than an evo?
Besides the underlying hardware boost from the Evo, it has a lot to do with the fact that it's THE Android phone with HTC Sense out of the bunch of 4G phones coming out soon. Just remember how most of last year, despite the fact that many Android phones were released after the Incredible came out (Droid X, Droid 2, Galaxy S), a lot of people still said "The HTC Incredible is still the best out of that bunch, and even arguably better than the Evo." The Thunderbolt seems to be heading that direction as well in the war of the 4G phones.

I got to admit thought, the level of excitement has been a lot louder than even I expected, considering the somewhat lukewarm reactions after CES and the lack of real enthusiasm from technological pundits (it was mostly all about the Atrix for them).

I got a chance to hold a dummy unit two days ago. It is a magical phone. I'd buy it if it had an HDMI port. But alas, I will have to go with the Bionic :(

Me too! Cannot wait. Really hope that the 3rd, 4th, or 10th will be the day. I'm borrowing a Samsung Facinate, which is nice, but I want MY phone, MY Thunderbolt!

I was at Best Buy this afternoon and of course I asked when will it be out. She laughed and said she didn't know of a date yet. She said "It was supposed to be the 24th, but apparently, Verizon and Skype had some issues, so they are removing Skype Mobile on all the phones, then it will release". I know another rumor, but it sounds plausible I guess. Along with the Iphone rumor and all the others we have heard to date.

What the heck? Well another one to add to the delay rumors. Engadget believes that it is a battery issue.

I was originally 100% onboard with dumping my Droid 1 for the Thunderbolt, but with all the pre-release hullabaloo, is anyone else planning on just waiting to see the Droid Bionic?

I am sticking with the Thunderbolt!! I am remaining Loyal til the very end!!

I want one of those two phones, but I'm not sure which one - both have rumblings of problems. Also, the Axtrix people seem to be complaining quite a bit, and the Bionic should be similiar! What to do!

Yeah, I'm thinking about it. I've been torn since they were announced. I'd love to wait until it came out and be able to compare everybody else's experiences with both phones and then pick the better one. Somebody here just said the other day that the X has a locked bootloader but that people were still rooting and ROMing. I didn't know it was possible to flash a different ROM in that scenario but I guess people found a way around it? If that's true and possible, that takes away a significant thumbs-down item from the Bio. For me, the only bad thing left at that point is that the Bio's FFC is VGA, but I'm not sure I actually care about that or will even do video calls more than a few times, nor do I care overly much about the TB's kickstand. I was actually getting interested in some of the cool features of Sense like the flip-it-over-for-silence thing and some other stuff. But that bigger battery in the Bio sure seems comforting, as much as it can without anyone knowing how well either phone does with power management.
