It's June. ICS any day now!

Another weeks starts tomorrow. Could it be this week?

Sent from my HTC Rezound.

According to htc even once they release it to the carriers the carriers can rake as long as 45 days to release it. So end of June may be more realistic for an earlier time frame.

I hope that it happens this week as well.

In my opinion it's been released to Verizon for some time. The Sensation is basically the same phone and has had ICS for some time now. With that being said, I'm just being overly optimistic, and would be surprised if we see it by the end of July let alone June.

Isn't this the first phone to be upgraded to ICS on Verizon? Anyone else think they may be trying to figure out how to disable ICS's natural ability to disable apps?

On a separate note, if Google made the network driver accessible to the average user, there wouldn't ever be a need to root again...

That is exactly what I think is going on.

I don't think that's gonna pan out. If I were a gamblin' man, I'd bet some money on Verizon holding ICS back in order to let Motorola go first.

Edit: Wouldn't it be weird if Verizon held ICS back until every single phone was ready? LG, Pantech, Moto, Samsung, HTC, you name it.

That would be an odd strategy. However the RAZR did come before the Rezound(by a week). And Moto is Big Red's savior so maybe there is some truth to the Moto first attitude. However HTC has been bucking the system at every turn. Maybe Verizon will hold out and HTC will just release it to the public on it's own...Oh wait, that would be doing things right....can't allow that.

This is how an OTA should go(In a perfect world...or just Apple's).

HTC: Hey Verizon we have an update for XYZ phone.
Verizon: OK, send us a copy to test.
--later--
Verizon: Ok it works
HTC: We'll be pushing it on XYZ date. Let your customers know.
Verizon: Will do. We'll even post a link to the manual version on your site.
HTC: Great, talk to you next update.

I'd imagine this scenario being .01% possible with any OEM other than HTC.
I always imagined there would be a butler rushing into VZW CEO's private indoor pool and alerting him to the fact that HTC provided an unlock method for their bootloader. He'd then drop his champagne glass and splash about furiously, cursing HTC's name as it echoed in the pool hall.

Like I said...in a perfect world. We all know that HTC unlocking the bootloaders was like a teenager getting their nose pierced even though their parents said not to.

At least lg is starting to open up. The spectrum I got has an unlocked bootloader I believe.

I hadn't heard that, pretty cool if LG shipped with an unlocked boot on VZW. If you did any in depth phone shopping before purchase, what sold you on the Spectrum?

Haha that I got 2 for $200!

What else sold me on it was the beautiful screen and good processor. It doesn't run extremely fast because of the crapware Verizon put on it and and lg's horrible ui but rooting handled that nicely lol. I found out later that it has an unlocked bootloader.

That's funny, I was thinking that the only way I'd be able to use one is if I modded the heck out of it. They did a nice job on that screen, it is really nice. I was a big fan of pre smartphone era LG devices. They really do need to get cracking on a new UI on their phones, it's deplorable outta the box.

Aww yeah! I had a LG Env3 before my OG Droid. If smartphones were outlawed, I'd go right back to that phone in a heartbeat.

Yea i agree. They should really just include a third party launcher by default or better yet offer a choice. I'm running adw ex on it right now until I either root it and / or upgrade to ics when it comes out. I would have rooted it in a heartbeat of it wasn't my only phone and I had to be certain I could undo any damage I cause. I am still looking for some answers before I root .

I hope you're both joking. The Rezound is unbrickable. Read my guide(stickied in the rooting/rom'ing section), familiarize yourself with the routine, because it's dead easy. If you're still not comfortable with it ask questions, there are quite a few of us here that will answer you and unlike other places on the web, your questions are welcome here.

I always enjoy a good dig at the forum whose name shall go unspoken.
I agree with MrSmith though, guys. I was a amateur nooblet when I got the Rezound, and my only customizing experience was on the OG Droid. I safely unlocked, rooted, ROM'd, re-locked, and RUU'd my way back to stock the Rezound with absolutely no damage done to my phone. Just remember, don't s-off and you'll be alright. The safeguards will be in place.

I think Avan was just visiting us from the LG Spectrum forum.
