Ok so Android has been able to identify tune for 10 years and give you links to the tune on yt. Shazzam came later doing the same job. Trouble is they can only listen via the mic and can't even identify tunes that are actually playing on your phone. Bizarre 🤪😜.

Shazam does this. It can listen for music while using other apps just fine.

Listening to Elvis on Twitter, Shazam identifying it.
Not quite sure what you are asking/stating.

Are you wondering if there is an ability, within Android or an Android App, to parse/monitor any current audio stream/processing and identity from small samples of such what the song is, what is the artist, song/album detail and such?

Presumably, an audio player app could be built to analyze the stream/processing and attempt to identify from samples of such what song is playing. Services and Apps like SoundHound and Shazzam have done that before, as you have indicated, using the mic. However, I think most audio players would already have access to the media file meta data tags about the song, and therefore no need to analyze the stream/processing (unless you are wondering about this from the perspective of for an app to assist in adding media meta tags and such for untagged files).

It makes more sense if you think about it outside the context of a song that you are playing.

If you are watching a twitch stream, YouTube video or something on netflix that has a song playing, all the media notification will tell you is what stream, video or movie you are watching and there is no way to get info about the song.

Exactly. I hear loads of tunes whist flicking through social media and no way to identify it unless I download it to my phone, cast it to my TV, then use my phone to listen back to it via the microphone. It's a totally bizarre oversight 🤪🤪😜😜 and I'm struggling to beleive these apps even got off the table without being able to listen to the internal audio.

Google pixel have Now playing that identify songs playing

In Google app tap the microphone when music is playing and it will tell you what it is.

The reason nothing shows in my screenshot is I don't have any music playing. Screenshot_20230329_141425_Google.jpgScreenshot_20230329_141409_Google.jpg
