I've got a Pixel C, you've got questions. Fire away!

Just meaning all the reviews state the Android apps don't translate to tablets specifically this one since it's dimensions are different (square root of 2). I have no problems on my Turbo but I've never had an Android tablet and am a bit nervous about it. The hardware finally got me to take the plunge and dump the ipad.

Given the choice, do you feel like this tablet with keyboard should have shipped with Chrome OS rather than Android?

That's a good question, and I think folks are still trying to ram a square peg into a round hole with that one, whether you ask it from the ChromeOS->Tablet angle or or the Android->Laptop angle. In either direction you're talking about software designed for one but not the other. Going to take work (and I have no doubt that Google's working on it) to make that happen.

I think with the Pixel C bad timing struck once again. It happens. A lot.

That's not new to the Pixel C at all. There is nothing new about this tablet in that respect. Not one single thing.

I have a Nexus 10, I was considering a N9 last year, but didn't think it was that much of an improvement, especially for the price. It is cheaper now, but I'm reluctant to get one as it is already half way through its update period. The Pixel C, spec wise, seems like a bigger improvement, still pricey though. Can you make any comparison between this and the N10? And do we have any idea what Google intend in regards for the length of support/update period?

Both the N9 and PC are big leaps over the N10, if *only* for the updates, ya know? Plus, way different in performance and display.

As a middle school teacher, I don't like that option. 1)the pixel c is a lot more expensive than a chromebook. 2)a tablet that can't do split screen wouldn't work for a lot of the research and other things I have students doing where they need multiple things opened at the same time.

Put it this way: My 4th-grader isn't switching to this from a Chromebook anytime soon.

Phil, do us a favor. Create another profile with your wife's or a friends gmail account. Switch to this account and open up a lot of apps like gmail, hangouts, google photos etc. Then switch back to your account and see how performance is.
Multi user accounts on the nexus 9 brings the tablet to a crawl sometimes and coming from standby it is pretty much unusable for a couple of minutes.

Performance is my main gripe on the nexus 9 so it would be nice to know if the pixel c is similar or better.

A better question is WHY?.. I get ChromeOS and heavily considered it for my daughter last Christmas and even asked questions about it on this site (ultimately decided on a light Windows one as that's what she uses in school). $499 for a 32 GB Android tablet when the Surface 3 64 GB is $499 and can do much much much much much more.. It just seems overly priced for what it is... another mobile OS tablet (that thinks it can be more but can't).. It's like a wanna-be iPad Pro (who's a wanna-be Surface Pro, but can't either)...
