I've got the EVO - ask me anything!

I am sure you can download what ever sprint crap you want from the market or sprintzone

It's the standard HTC charger that they've been using for a couple years now.

Personal peeve: the charger that came with the OG Evo (just a plug with a USB cable, basically) blew out a month after I got the phone because of a power surge...I've been charging the Evo with a Blackberry microUSB charger ever since. Please tell me this isn't the same cord in the LTE box...

You can't be serious. You had a power surge and you are blaming the cord? Come on dude..

From the "not unboxing" video, I didn't see the HTC Notes app in the Evo menus, but I could have missed it when you were flipping through the screens. The One X appears to have it. Can you confirm? If it's not pre-installed, is the notes app available from the HTC Hub on the Evo? I'm interested since it offers evernote integration...

I have used both. The OG Evo is iconic, but honestly it's not even a close comparison. Which is to be expected given the age of the OG Evo. The One X is amazing, and Sprint's version has a bigger battery and SD card (which is a desired feature, but still something Android is getting away from), which are two features people wanted in the One X.

I think if you like the OG Evo, then you'll love Sprint's version of the One X. And everything they say about the screen is true. It's stunning.

I have always been impressed with HTC phones from the pocket PC days. The only issue I have with the EVO 4g LTE is the built in battery and how it would effect me. I require alot of mobility for work and personal tasks and I need my phone to last at least a day and I know these top tier phones are notorious for bad battery life. Now if I was able to bring a spare battery or 2 that would be fine, but thats not the case with this phone sadly and it has me looking at the galaxy nexus instead (despite that phone not having upgradable storage).

Honestly Im starting to think less multimedia on the phone is better then limiting my mobility away from a charger. Im hoping the battery life tests come back stellar as I want this phone over the samsung, but mediocre reports will have me picking up a galaxy nexus on thursday instead of pre ordering a new evo. :(

I wouldn't go with the galaxy nexus. Some initial reports are quoting better battery life then the galaxy nexus. Also the nexus is having antenna issues as of late, and searching for a network will just drain your battery. I too was in your boat of getting a nexus, but the Evo is just so well rounded and very future proof. It will be relevant for another two years.

Hey Phil....

Have you tried the Unlock method over at XDA that doesn't involve voiding your warranty....

Unlock Virtually Any HTC Bootloader Without Voiding Warranty | xda-developers

and the xda forum...

[htc] unlocking utility - xda-developers

Can you please tell me if this works on the E4GLTE?

Many thanks!

Haven't tried it. I use the official HTC one. But I will say this:

If you're worried about voiding a warranty, you shouldn't be mucking about with things you need an unlocked bootloader for. My 2 cents.

Hey Phil
Can you include a demonstration of how htc has used the beam feature in your review video?

It's stock Android Beam. Tap and send. (It's different than what Samsung is doing, where NFC initiates a Wifi Direct transfer)

Phil, you OK? You haven't posted in this thread for 10 hours, we're getting worried about you.

lol. It's nice to be missed.

I'm taking a couple days off with the family and --

Oh, poop. I just got caught on here! :)

Does it feels as sexy as it looks?

Actually, yeah. So I've been using the One X as my daily driver. The EVO's got sharper edges, though I'm digging the flat front. The design makes it feel a little thinner than the One X, though on paper it's supposedly every so slightly thicker. (Not sure I believe that, though -- and paper's been known to be off every now and then.)

The glossy part actually makes it a little easier to hold.

Phil...Thanks for all your hardwork.

2 questions:

1)Does the music app on HTC sense integrate with Google Music?

2) Can you change the apps that are available on the Home screen of HTC Car? Say I want to replace Music with Google Music or I want to change the Internet radio button to Pandora...is this possible?

1. Insofar as you can add the Google Music app as a shortcut, sure.

2. Nope. And that's kinda lame. (I need to check the non-carrier version of Sense 4, though.)
