I've got the EVO - ask me anything!

What material is the dull black on the back of the phone? Anodized metal, plastic, or what?

Two questions.
First: I have seen several sources about the kickstand supporting 3 different angles but have yet to see an image can I get some pics of that bad boy in action.?

Two thirds are here. What's the third angle?

Second and most important: I asked in another thread how does the new 3 button layout effect voice capabilities. In my current OG Evo I hold the search button and I can do voice search (mine is set to iris however) will something like this be possible with these buttons?

Doesn't do it by default, anyway. (Neither do any of the other HTC One phones)

Is the review going to be out before the release (did I miss it). It is going to help me decide if i want to buy it.

I don't believe any US CDMA carrier supports SVDO. The latest revision they went with is EVDO Rev A

Verizon has a few devices that support ehRPD which is their 3G tech that supports simultaneous 3G/4G but it's not nationwide.

Actually, Both the Thunderbolt and Rezound support SVDO with simultaneous voice/3G data.

Do you think it wise to have a phone with LTE features but no LTE as of yet.

Thanks for the kind words!

So something to remember about the HD voice stuff ... It's not going to be live on the network for a while, and it only works when both callers have phones that support it.

That said, I was at a Sprint networking (as in towers and stuff) breakfast the other day at CTIA.and they reminded us that HD voice actually is a standard, so eventually we might see it as the standard on all phones. But let's face it -- we'll be talking about the EVO 4G Super LTE Advanced by then. :p

So I've searched this thread for "HD Voice" and not a lot comes up. I found this response to one question, so I'll piggyback my question here. From watching all the various review videos out there, I understand that both phones have to support the HD Voice feature for it to work. However, some of the reviews indicate that the phone has to be on the LTE network. This didn't make sense to me since the LTE network is not on yet, but somehow they got to try out the HD voice feature. Can you clarify this point? Does it require the phone to be connected to the LTE tower for this feature to work or will it work on the standard voice connections as long as both phones support the feature?

There are lots of reviews already out, just search youtube. Once you watch a couple of the review videos you'll be hooked right in! Of course a full feature review from Phil would be nice too!

ACTUALLY.....I have been an avid ANDROID user for years...since the first iteration. I Have owned android tablets, and am a HARD CORE ANDROID fan. I am also, however, a fan of my phone lasting all day and that is something my OG EVO couldn't offer. I am also a fan of APPLE'S (That's right, I said it) integration. They are flawless. When they say it works, it works. That being said, my line of work requires my phone to do things that the iPhone can not. It is for that reason I am coming back to ANDROID. I absolutely loved my EVO and my son still has it. Works like a champ running a ROM that I custom built. I simply wnated an answer like everyone else here. Phil, thank you so much for all of the information you have provided. You are a scholar and a gentleman. Enjoy your time with your family and we will look forward to all the information you are gathering for us all.

I know HTC posted some pics in a Facebook gallery somewhere. And your can look at pictures taken on the One X. I think it definitely beats out the iphone and it has been one of HTC's main marketing points for the One line so I don't you'll be disappointed.

Thank for the info Phil. I know this is an android forum but the comparison is important to me. Your personal opinion carries a great deal of weight with me in my decision to come back to ANDROID via this beautiful new phone. :)

Hi all!
Long time Precentral (webOSnation) user here, registered today to ask this question: Did you notice if the EVOLTE has any sort of CarrierIQ or anything along those lines?

Here's a question:

Can you test for SVDO capabilities? :) Would love to know if this feature is implemented.
