How does it take the joy out of a phone you don't have yet?
Nobody is obligated to pre-order a phone a month out just because that's when pre-order opened up. You were aware how far out the pre-order was when you decided to pre-order. Google provided a shipping window. You know what that is. You should have waited until a week before that and pre-ordered since you consider a week out more reasonable.
People choose to run out in the rain but get mad at God when they get wet. Smh

This just in: Google is now a deity.

Ha ha. Looks like you have never heard of customer service or maybe you are happy living in the stone age.

I work in the supply chain space and feel it is a very poor example of a product launch when your fulfillment window is like a month. Especially, if you are preparing for a year. Yes, I know they said 3-5 weeks at time of ordering but doesn't make it any less excusable. And I don't mean just nexus. Other phones too.

I believe it is just a ploy from the manufacturer to create hype around a product to increase demand.

There's a certain momentum of releasing a product and actually getting it in people's hands. The Nexus event was very well received, and Google should be trying to get the phones out as fast as possible to build on that excitement. The longer you wait, the more frustrated customers get, even if that frustration isn't completely justified. Sony is having a similar problem with the Z5 taking so long to get released, and that phone is kind of their last attempt to be profitable. Apple's iPhone pre-orders always ship a week after they go live.

My issue with the preorder thing is that no "launch date" was set if you look at the big fruit company they handle product launches really well.

1. Announce product along with on sale date.
2. Leave it a few days/a week to build hype
3. Start pre orders.
4. Release product on time

Most other manufactures either follow a similar model or announce then a few weeks later give out an "on sale" date.

I don't see why Google do things the way they do kinda grinds my settings cog.

I have worked for 2 of the biggest mobile phone retailers in the UK and have gone through several major product launches and it seems it's always Google that do things differently. Is it so hard to give an "on sale" date then take as many pre-orders as you can realistically fulfill for this date then after this date open up normal sales and depending on stock give people delivery dates

to be fair, i'm pretty sure google is working as hard as they can to get the products in people's hands asap. to think they're just sitting on stock for any reason doesn't seem probable.

I'm sure they're working on it, but the month-long wait is a little excessive. I was hoping the delivery dates would be late estimates, but it seems like that was their plan.

I bet they are sitting on a descent inventory and when orders start shipping most people who ordered first will get their's pretty quick.

With the Moto X PE they trickled orders out randomly and slowly and people went crazy. I bet with the nexus they want to fulfill a lot of orders at one time to minimize the nexus envy.

I just chatted with Google support. I pre-ordered on Oct 3. My status currently shows Pre-ordered with a shipping date range of Nov 5-9 and when I asked if they had any updated shipping estimates for my order number I was given Nov 2.

Yeah considering how a lot of people have dates around the same time I'm guessing they're shipping them out in big batches. Even if google had had phones ready to launch a week after the announcement you'd see people in here complaining they didn't get in on the first batch and that google should have built more inventory up before releasing it, you really can't win with some people.

I believe the 5-9 is the receive by date? That would make sense if you did standard shipping and it ships on the 2nd.

Maybe Google is trolling everyone by doing an announcement for a great flagship and then taking people's money and never releasing the phone. :p

Ive ordered 1 6P from google store and 1 from the Huawei directly. me and the wife both will enjoy them with our move to Project Fi.

Guys what's the advantage of ordering through Huawei??, thinking of doing the financing option

well, there's that (advantage might be a strong word because the interest rate isn't very good) also no tax in some states, plus the possibilty to get sooner if ordering later it if they are pooling from their own stock.

i got it from them because of the financing. i'm moving in the near future or so, so i'd rather not tie up my credit cards / cash. and i'll just pay it off after the move is all done.

They don't take the money until; it is hipped. They took credit card details but nothinh is charged to your account.

The estimated date on the order history page hasn't changed since I ordered on day one: November 10-12.

But if I click on "order details," the date range is now October 30-November 3. So make what you will of that.

Meh, its easier at least for me to do what I do now when driving down the road " Ok Google, open play Pandora "

But just replace Pandora with camera

For those waiting on their 6p to ship, here is another reason to get excited over receiving this device - and another reason to be happy you went with a Nexus. Yes, Google ripped off some of the best ideas from Moto during the short time it owned the company, but now we are benefiting from that.

You do know that you need to pay a 79$ deductible on top of the 89$ you paid for 6p PROTECT plan for accidental damage right? I called google and verified. PROTECT is not the same as APPLE CARE and it's not that great.

My consideration for financing is I'm growing my consulting business so I'm trying to be sensible with my expenses. As such, I can't justify spending $500+. I can write it off at year end, but still, I'd rather get to get it financed and spend my money on my other business needs. :)

For those that ordered from Huawei, was there a Frost option, or only Graphite and Aluminum?
