I've owned everything, and the Nexus 6p is still the best!

While I believe OIS is a great feature if properly employed, it's not the end all be all for mobile phones. The nexus 6p is proof of that. But, believe it or not I'm actually rooting for HTC. It's just that I'm that jilted lover that will always be salty for the constant disappointments they inflicted on me. Lol! TBH, I don't really care about the bad camera history of the nexus devices because I didn't become a member until the nexus 6. And, that camera was better than any I had experienced on any HTC phone ever. And, HTC really lost me when I had to start sending phones back to them for repair..I.e.purple tint and defective camera lens on the M8. Both times I was without a cell phone for 7+ whole days for faulty equipment that was not my fault. That's their legacy with me, so yes I'm very suspect when it comes to them working the Nexus program.

I agree 100%. I had the M7 and M9 but I am not going to compromise on a crappy camera again. The rest of the phone experience I didn't have a problem with. If this M10 still isn't at least on par with the best cameras out there and doesn't have great battery life I am getting the 6P later this month.

Is it confirmed that HTC is making the next Nexus? I kind of think that Huawei should have another kick at the cat. I like what they did with the Nexus 6P, and am somewhat worried that HTC will perhaps stray from the things that appeal to me on the Nexus 6P. Hopefully it will be an awesome upgrade.

I agree. There has been a lot of teeth gnashing over the omission of OIS in the 6P and I figured I'd have a chance to see if it had any real impact. It doesn't. I haven't hit any situation where the lack of OIS had a negative effect on still shots much... in low light, I usually always make sure that HDR+ is on, and that does miracles (the quality of image bests what my wife's S7 can do). And as for video and EIS vs OIS... we have a ton of videos from my 6P and both her G4 and S7 and to be honest, they're all perfect fine. If I was one to take a ton of 4K video, where EIS has a hard time due to no overlap to play with, maybe my opinion would change, but in 1080P, EIS does a good enough job for me to not make any appreciable difference than OIS.

Oh, and I am with you... I am pulling for HTC. I've never owned an HTC device... but the market is stronger having more OEMs in the mix. Competition breeds excellence.

Obviously the 6P is still the king - but the S7 Edge comes in a very close second and has several individual things that are better, just not the whole package.

While I haven't owned everything under the sun, I have had my fare share of devices, Nexus and non Nexus and I am still blown away by what this phone can do. Screen, sound, camera quality, etc, etc. I don't need all of the extras when stock does everything I need and more with fluidity, smoothness and speed.

Totally agree...I think that the 6P is certainly the best overall phone package that you can buy at the moment.It is easily the best phone I have ever owned.

The 7 edge is my forst phone outside of the Nexus line ups and the ability to switch from samsung to google launcher is good enough for me. i'm content..

Agreed! Lol, it's so good that you actually kinda keep waiting for the other shoe to drop and it just doesn't. There are peripherals as well, play store apps run great on stock Android. Sometimes I read the comments about an app I might want, and think oh that app is no good based on the reviews, but then I try it on my 6P and I experience none of the bad stuff that others do. Go figure!

However, I will point out one small thing about the 6P, the Bluetooth kinda has a weak signal output. I suppose it could be my Beats, but I have to have my phone on the same side as my headphone's Bluetooth receiver or the music skips like crazy! And, that drives me a little nuts because it kind of reminds of those HTC phones. I never had the issue with my Nexus 6, with which I used the exact same Beats headphones.

I am pretty much done with this M9. I also am leaning towards more of a phablet this time around and a stock experience since I have never had a Nexus device and the 10 seems like a tweener at 5.2" but Sense is getting closer to stock. I could wait until the new Nexus but that's at least another 6 months so I am not sure I want to wait that long. My carrier plan allows me out of my 2 year contract one year early on April 15th. So I will make up my mind after the the HTC 10 presentation on the 12th and then wait for some preliminary reviews. I was playing around with the 6P at a store. That phone has aged well. It's too bad the 4K doesn't have stabilization but the camera itself is better than the S7 in low light and shoots 1080P just as well. There is a bit of lag processing and focusing compared to the S7 but that is more of an issue on HDR+ mode. I don't know. We'll see.

I'm excited to see how the new HTC cam compares to the Nexus 6P. I really liked the pics the M& took with the 4mp ultra pixels.. at least until i zoomed in.. i heard that the new one will be a 12mp ultra pixel cam... I feel like that would take amazing pics. I'm looking forward to the announcement.

But Yes.... right now I feel like the Nexus 6p cant be beat when you take everything into account. The S7e is nice looking but i'm already bored by it, and lets not even bring up touch wiz. (Samsung Pay with the mag strip thingy is sick though)

Well, for me, even if the hex M10 gets the highest marks with cameras and everything, I'm still waiting on the next Nexus. After being on stock Android, it's difficult to step back to 90+ days of waiting for the latest software. Untimely updates are a deal breaker once you realize how good it is to get them within a couple of weeks if you wait on OTAs.

Oh, no doubt. The MST stuff they integrated really solves a problem with these kinds of payment systems. And the focusing speed is a sight to behold... From a technical standpoint, it's incredible. I have yet to hear my wife complain about the S7's camera operation... Which is the reason I got it for her.

Of course, it only takes a couple of minutes of messing around with the S7 to remind me why I enjoy my 6P so much.

I've owned every phone under the sun, up to and including the new Galaxy S7, and I can say the Nexus 6p is the best phone I've ever used.

Only problem i have with the 6p is the slow mo video ... it never works and is super choppy.. and on occasion the keyboard lags for an instant which causes a special character to be typed rather than a standard "S" or what ever key it is you are working with.

I always wanted to get a Nexus 6P, heard many great things. From Canada the 128gb version is more then the S7 or LG G5 that take SD cards (I use crap tons or media, pix, take videos, etc) and it's already 6 months old. If it came down to $700 can I would jump on it.

I have been in stores where people simply buy Samsung phones because their marketing and advertising is so strong that people just buy it. They aren't familiar will the subtle nuances as we are on here.

Here's a review from when they both came out that compares them in depth. They both have their advantages, though the 6P is overall the better phone -- the question you have to ask is if you can justify paying for a 6P when you already have the Pure.

In my case, I wanted the 6P for the fingerprint sensor and the faster processor. Additionally, I bought the Nexus for the quick Android updates. While I owned the original Moto X and loved it, I have lost faith in Lenovo updating phones -- particularly when some versions of the 2014 Moto X didn't even get Marshmallow (much less my 2013 Moto X).
