Jaybird Blue Buds X Bluetooth communication problem - advice needed!

I have a Verizon S4 which was just updated to 4.3.
There has been a continuing problem even before the update with the Blue Buds X dropping the bluetooth connection on a random basis. Sometimes it is every few minutes or even once per hour.A replacement Blue Buds has the same problem. All other Bluetooth connections with my S4 to my car, and a Creative BT speaker are fine.
Re-pairing didn't help either.

Could there be a setting in the phone that could cause this behavior?

Have the same problem with my S3 and Bluebuds. S3 works great with many other bluetooth headsets. It seems to be only the Bluebuds. Exact same symptoms that you describe.
