Jelly Bean 4.2 Camera

I was running stock ICS on an S2 and had this problem. When I moved to CM10 then the photo editor worked. Maybe doesn't work with ICS?

I'm running CM10. I've a Galaxy Tab 10.1v with CM10. It works but closes after the 1st picture in photosphere and editing contrast.
Also tried with my phone, a Galaxy S+ with CM9 but with this one just don't start.

Yeah, you'll always get some jaggedness here and there. Did you do this in Portrait or Landscape mode? And yeah, I think my problem was that the indoor might have messed it up a bit.

Portrait. I have no idea why, but I haven't actually tried one in landscape yet... I will need to do that today!

Leave the zip that contains the apks, two I believe, and libraries alone (meaning, don't unzip). Boot into recovery to install that zip, reboot, and Viola!

Does not work for me. I have a rooted SIII, running on CyanogenMod. I copy the apk file into system/app paste it and then reboot it. Doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong? Great job by way. Thank you.

Two things, did you copy the lib files as well, and did you change the permissions of the files after you pasted them? Just have to be sure :)

Probably. There are two apk files and three lib files which need to be copied to their respective folders in system and permissions set to rw,r,r. then reboot.

So I flashed the zip on my Stock Rooted S3 (At&T i747) wiped cache and dalvik, rebooted, and everything seemed fine. Camera, video, photosphere, panorama all work. Even photosphere viewing works. But I can't get editing/filters/tiny planet to work. I've read through this entire thread (and several elsewhere).

What am I doing wrong?

Good question. Hopefully an S3 user chimes in.

OR someone can give me an S3 for "research" and "testing" :p

It's not working for me. I've tried everything i can possibly think of. It opens up, then on the regular camera (not video or pano or sphere) i try to take a picture, and it shows the animation as if the picture has been taken, but then the app just freezes. Eventually I get an error saying, "Gallery isn't responding. Do you want to close it? (Wait, OK)". Waiting does nothing. After i click OK to close it, i try to reopen the camera and it then says "Camera Error - Can't connect to the camera."

Im on Samsung Galaxy S3 (SGH-i747) with most recent CM10 nightly.

The only way i have gotten it to work is by doing a dirty flash, and then reflashing the camera zip (4.2Camera_t04.zip), then it works, everything, including the sphere and the gallery. But once the phone reboots im screwed and back to square one.

Any ideas?!!

I flashed the zip on my Rooted S3 (Rogers i747M - ROM- SERENITY 1.2 - AT&T GNote II Port ) wiped cache and dalvik, rebooted. Camera, video, photosphere, panorama all work perfect. Editing/filters/tiny planet work also.

I'm still experimenting working my way up to putting together larger pics

OK still learning, so don't flame me TOO badly....

I read most of the thread (skimmed it to be precise)

I've got the Galaxy Nexus (running AOKP JB Milestone 1), Franco's Milestone 6 kernel.

Do I just need to flash the zip in the first post to get everything working? I'm not to sure about manually pushing files, although I think I might be able to figure it out.

Yes. Flash it in recovery and do a cache/dalvik wipe just 'cause.

Thankyou for the quick reply sir! File is on the phone, gonna go flash it and see what happens. :)

EDIT: Quick question. with the new camera, does this allow me to do partial sphere? Like a panorama, only an extra pass on top and bottom to make it wider (if that makes any sense)?

Ok, I'd like to think I know a thing or two about Android but I'm not for the life of me able to get this thing installed. I have tried the apk method, moving it into /system/app and setting the permissions and I have tried the flash method in cwm. I've done it like 3 times thinking I had a bad zip.

In all cases i just don't see the new app. My old camera app is there and it works fine but I can't see any of the new stuff.

So either I'm completely missing something, which is possible, been a long week with that Hurricane thing, or this just doesn't' want to work with Bugless Beast.
Any ideas folks, before i go back to stock and try?
Thanks!

Try renaming the old gallery to .bak? I moved my files manually and set the permissions. The only thing I did that wasn't explicitly spelled out in the OP was rename the files that were being replaced.

suppose i could try that. I figured that flashing the zip file would do all that for me...but maybe not....
I'm due for a flatten and rebuild anyway so I might just do that. That'll ensure 4.2 will drop in AOSP because it always does right after I get the new install configured.

lol I know the feeling. I think there was one lib I had to rename and obviously the gallery. Two of the libs were not present for me on AOKP M1. I can't speak to the zip as I like to have as much control as possible over what I'm doing.

I'm on sgs3. Everything works except when I set the flash on the gallery force close. Anyone knows a work around to fix this? Tia
