Jelly bean ota - who got it?

I received my nexus yesterday and 5 minutes after I connected to Wi-Fi I received the jelly bean update!

Did apps > all apps > google framework > force stop > clear cache and on the first check for update it was there. Now got some yummy Jelly bean.

Bought the GNEX from google play on July 1st got it on the 6th. Had not received 4.1 OTA yet so I just tried your trick. Did it 3 times cleared cache, force stop. On the 3rd it kicked in.

cheers

I have a GSM-version yakjuxw build, and no Jelly Bean yet. And I fear it will be similar to ICS 4.0.4 update. That one came first in the end of March / early April from Google, but I got the update just recently from Samsung, on 2nd July. It took nearly 3 months more!

I probably wait to early August and if the update doesn't come by then, I will flash to takju. Won't be fun, have looked various instructions and IMO it's a mess.

I had that same build and ended up flashing to yakju. Honestly the best thing to do is to get off the those variant builds and get on the official Google builds.

mine is yakjukr, it's too bad...:(
since i don't want to flash my phone to yakju, looks like the only thing i can do is praying for samsung rolling out the updates ASAP.

Dude, this did the job! I've been checking this whole week and after doing this trick three times it worked....Jelly bean--now I can sleep peacefully. :D

Not going to happen ASAP, or any time soon for that matter. If you know Samsung, you know they take forever with rollouts. You're going to be waiting for a long while.

Just flash it. You'll be glad you did.

Wow, I followed eli-ao5's instructions and got the OTA on the first try! Thanks, Dude!

Got it. WIFI download 5 min. Install 15 min. Much faster and smoother. Love the Currents app.

I went to Settings -> APPS ->Google Framework Services and cleared data and hit "Force Stop. When I went into check for update JB 4.1 began downloading instantly on the first try!

OMG that totally worked, I was going to root, but now I am downloading this as I type, this, ty, ty, ty, ty, ty, ty

Still nothing. This just adds to the CF that was the Nexus 7 launch.

And just like the Nexus 7 being an extra week late in Canada, I don't think we'll see the Jellybean OTA here for another month. Google has not even gotten around to updating Galaxy Nexus' beyond 4.0.1 thanks to the yakjuuxw build in Canada.

I thought I bought a Nexus. Turns out, I bought a Nexus branded phone with Samsung support.

Times like these make me fantasize about the iPhone. I shouldn't have to root, flash a different ROM to get a basic update.

Not happening any time soon.

That your own fault for not doing your homework. It's a well known fact only the U.S. GSM phones are takju (and updated by Google). Canadian versions have never been simply yakju. Every Canadian gets their updates from Samsung stock. It's not Google who "hasn't gotten around to updating," it's Samsung.

You should root and flash. It's not hard and you'll be happy you did.

And 4.1 is a major jump in the software. Not exactly a "basic update."

Don't hate Google, hate Samsung. Or yourself for not flashing the yakju build.

I cant find any app by that name. There is app by name Google Service Framework, but it's clear cache button is not active, but clear data button is. Can you please share exact name of the app.

Google Servie Framework is correct.

Force stop and clear cache. If you can't and the data info has all 0's, then try a software update check.

If it doesn't work, rinse and repeat.

Not yet on yakjuu, trying to be patient, don't feel like rooting it.

No need to root it, I just unlocked the boot loader using wugsfresh v1.4 and then flashed ICS 4.0.4 (its very easy to use, and there's a lot of tutorials on YouTube) which is the yakju firmware. Once you have that you will immediately get the legit OTA 4.1.1 update.
