Jitterbug smart3 Text message and contact notification aren't working?

My friend left a text message on jitterbug smart 3 but my phone goes to sleep, I can't hear the notification until I wake up the phone. I went to the setting and found the apps. I scrolled down and saw the text message and the contact are not working correctly. How do I fix it?
