Juice Defender Ultimate and Forever 1.0.9

I find it to be more useful on days when the phone is idle a lot and I don't want the radios draining the battery down. I do realize I can turn the radios off myself, but what's the point when there's an app for that. :p
I think the skepticism most folks have with this logic is that it's like saying you can get better mileage in your car by turning the motor off. True, but not very practical. I mean, most of us want the phone to ring when it receives an incoming call, rather than ignore it because the radio is turned off. Otherwise, we would have turned the phone off completely. Different strokes, I guess.

I receive calls/texts/e-mails just fine. Even if I didn't I wouldn't care anyway because no one that important ever calls me. If I was awaiting an important call, I'd simply turn JD off.

...More specifically, my first reaction was that the latest update is probably killing one or more HTC process that are critical for Sense to run properly. That's where these apps start to get a little dangerous. I've seen other updates of this app where it didn't necessarily cause crashing issues, but all of a sudden battery performance goes down the toilet. The last thing a lot of users point the finger at is an app that is supposed to take care of this very issue. I've asked them to uninstall it, only to have them come back and say their problem went away.

Juice defender kills processes? I was not aware of that. Also, I was having this issue by just trying to place it on my homescreen without actually opening it. That shouldn't cause it to kill any essential processes, correct?

Also, the answer to my question can be found here:

HTC Sense UI crashes when I attempt to add JD Ultimate to the desktop

all it does is toggle your mobile data/wifi on and off in order to preserve battery life

it does not kill tasks

**you still get your calls/texts, these are not impacted in anyway by using JD.**

JD helps you out in 2 ways:

1. it turns off mobile data/wifi when your screen is off. If you are not using your phone, there is no need for these radios to be on unless you NEED to know the second an email arrives. (again, this does not effect calls/texts, they still come through)

2. you can set JD so that it shut down mobile data/wifi when you are running certain apps. For example, lets say i'm playing Game Dev Story, it will turn them off while this game is running.

To me it makes perfect sense, there is no need for my phone to be connected to a data network when its in my pocket or when i'm running certain apps. and aside from the display, these radios place the biggest demand on your battery so when they aren't needed it only makes sense to have them turned off

Juice defender kills processes?

Nope. I've been schooled below.

Yeah like me *facepalm*. I have always been under the impression that one of the things it does is kill or block processes in order to

Over time I've read a lot of posts where JD was the source of syncing and (counter its intended purpose) increased battery drain issues. I assumed it was either blocking or killing tasks/dependencies that control whether an app has access to the network or not. There are also enough system related things that it's doing like CPU scaling, radio controls, and other settings, that are unique across different manufactures that it leaves more room for errors or specific code modifications to support each one.

But after reading their website in more detail they state they are not a task killer, so sorry about that.
