Just got camera update for unlocked/USA

I have the same problems with the camera. Anything still turns out great. Any movement causes everything to look blurry. It is very frustrating, since I like taking shots of my kid playing sports, sporting events, dogs, etc.
This Note 9 camera is a disaster when objects are not steady. My 9 month old kid moves constantly, freaking blurry mess.

My iPhone XS Max and Pixel 2XL are the same way. You can't expect that with a smartphone. It may capture some good shots but moving objects will never be a consistent thing from a smartphone. Invest in a Sony RX100 VA or VI. Best investment you can make for photos of kids.

Completely disagree with this. My Pixel 2 XL is amazing with movement compared to the Note 9. The shutter is much faster on the Pixel, and the processing is also better.

It maybe a LITTLE better but your still going to get blurry photos. And in lower light good luck. Still not going to rely on my Pixel 2XL for good photos of my kids. Like I said it will never be constant with any smartphone but if you COMPLETELY disagree please prove me wrong with some photos.

Nope, I've had my Pixel 2 XL since February and it's been stellar. If there's a ton of movement there will obviously be blurring, but during normal movement it does great. The Note 9 looks like crap during the same conditions.

So you agree then that a lot of movement will be blurry. That's what I was referring to with the person I was responding to with kids that are moving constantly. As my kids move a ton too. I just wouldn't rely on any smartphone if I want to capture great moments of my kids.

Does Tracking AF not help in these situations?

This is has been my experience between the s9+ and the 2xl. The Pixel generally does really, really well capturing candid moments where the s9 photos were frequently blurry. Also, indoor shots on the s9 were very soft and lacked detail vs the Pixel camera.

I'm not sure if the note 9 is any different than the s9 in this department, but i was really hoping it was. I still love looking at the screen of the 9+, and somehow the stereo speakers are even better than the 2xl with it's dual front facing setup. No credit phone camera is perfect, but the gap (for my used) is too wide to give up the 2xl right now unless Samsung dials in their software to produce results similar to the pixel

Sorry but i disagree. I have a whole phone full of great pics of my cat running around, friends outside doing stuff, ect, from last year with my Note 8. Thats kind of the whole point-the camera was great then went downhill.

Those good pics with my Note 8 had no weird liquidy looking pics, and for catching action all i had to do was put on sports mode, thats it. Now sports mode is gone and theres nothing to take its place.

Have you tried using Pro Mode? Don't be intimidated by the Pro name but it will reduce the processing and all you really need to adjust is either aperture or shutter. Change one or the other and leave the rest on Auto. I believe that's why they rid of sports mode because of the improved Pro mode that Sport is not really needed.

I don't see anything that different with the update. Maybe in dynamic range but that's about it.
