Just got my Atrix!

Quick question: the battery is about dead. can i charge it for a couple hours while i play with it more and then let it get low tonight then turn it off and charge 6-8 hours or should the 6-8 hour charge while powered off be the initial charge?

by the way im LOVING this phone . best ive ever owned

another question: i tried setting the pattern as the lock screen. i set it and confirmed it, put the phone to sleep and when i woke it up it was still the slider. i went back to settings and hit set lock screen and it was still at the "confirm pattern" screen. i confirmed it again and still didnt work.

this happened several times and i was never able to get the pattern as the lock screen

That's what I did... I pulled out an extension cord and plugged it in while I played with it.

One thing you'll want to do in the next week or so is do a cycle charge to it. With a full charge use the phone till it shuts itself down then put it on the charge and let it fully recharge. Once it's charged you can power it back on and use it as normal. This calibrates the battery circuit in the phone so it knows the upper and lower limits on the battery.

Try setting up the finger print scanner. It works really well and I really like using it to unlock the phone. As far as the pattern I'm not sure.

i did the finger print. really easy and works awesome with my otterbox . couldnt be better

my phone actually just died, so i just left it off and put it on the charger. ill take it off around 9 tonight and play more. i cant wait. i havent even started getting apps besides doubletwist and airsync.

re: battery: I would recommend that you try to restrain yourself, and allow the battery to charge fully, at rest, for starters.

re: screen lock: You will always get the slider, first, then the pattern lock follows. And, of course, it depends upon the time delay you set.

Finally, be very sure to use the hell out of the Atrix, for your first 30 days. The Atrix has a history of quality control issues(see many other threads on this), and you will hate yourself if you don't bring them to the surface while you still can easily exchange the device for one which is not defective. Especially important is to make lots of calls, throughout the 30 day period, and ask people if you sound OK. This issue may not appear out of the box, but rather, develop over time. One way to check is to call a voice mail system with your Atrix, and then call again with another phone. Then compare the two.

Other things to check are loss WiFi connectivity, and serious overheat of the back of the device.

But please don't let me frighten you. The Atrix is a great phone!

sounds good. the battery just died and i am charging it 100%

as of right now ive called a few people and made sure to specifically ask how i sound because i know it is a known issue of voice quality. ill definitely keep this monitored.

i used it for over an hour straight and stayed relatively cool. so thats a good thing.

I usually charge it to the max, do a factory wipe and then drain it all the wipe down until it turns off, then re-charge. I only do this the first time I get a device, but to answer your question, sure you can.

Not sure what's up with your pattern lock not working, never tried it -- only the fingerprint scanner. Try restarting your device? Did you verify the pattern which it asks for right after doing it the first time?

Congrats on your Atrix. I love my Atrix, but where I work, I have no service. Picked me up a Nexus S 4G for work.

i never tried restarting. its probably a stupid mistake and i think i found out what it was. it was set to twenty minutes and i was trying to do it right away so it was just using the slider... whoops!

which pre-installed apps are safe to remove??

There are several of the apps from ATT that can be uninstalled if you choose. I rooted mine, got TitatiumBackup and froze the apps instead. Check out the XDA thread for more info on the freezing. I also switched to Launcher Pro and no longer use the stock MotoBlur launcher.

there is no audio on my videos that were synced from my BB or through MMS from an iPhone. What could be the problem??

EDIT: it was actually a picture being read by my phone as a video. hmmm.. weird.

however, a video was just sent to my phone and now im getting audio with no video. not fun....

Glad to hear you got your Atrix as planned! I hope you figure out the issue with the videos as I'm planning on going from BB to the Atrix maybe tomorrow.

Also, when you open your apps launcher, you can search for a specific app right?

There were some other issues I read about on the Atrix from another BB user who had it but then went back to BB (Torch). I was wondering if you can confirm the following when you get a chance...

1. Does the Atrix have access to ALL of Android Market apps? I heard it doesn't - or is this what rooting is for?

2. You won't be able to have more than 8 windows open - is this true?

3. You will develop lag after two weeks

4. A lot of the Android Market apps won't work.

5. You won't have deep profiles (not sure what this means exactly)

I can use my early upgrade tomorrow! So just wondering if any of these issues are real or can they be solved with a root?

Thanks and hope you're having fun with your new device! Do you plan on getting the cardock for it soon? I definitely will if I get the Atrix.

I'll answer to what I have heard/read at this time
#1 - from what I have heard, no..but it's based on carrier and not on specific phone. I've heard at&t blocks some apps, but I know know what they are.
#2 - 8 windows? do you mean tabs/browsers? I haven't run into any limitation so far, except for 1 case in getting logged into a secure web site, the ONLY browser that would log me in was Opera, I have firefox, dolphin
#3 - I have not noticed any lag, i'm happy with my atrix and can't complain. I'm in for productivity, than for look..ie substance. Just a preference. I went to get one for my dad one for fathers day, but store was out, he ended up getting the new Infuse
#4 - I wouldn't say a lot, but, I have seen cases, but keep in mind, where at the iphone has 1 hardware profile, for android..many diff hardware, at least that is the explanation I've read before.
#5 - As for profiles, if you are comparing to the Blackberry Profiles, I don't believe they have them, unless there is one through 3rd party app.

I think #2 (8 windows) refers to how many apps can be open at once to muti-task between opened apps. But I'm guessing still not certain. Either way I can't remember having more than that open on my BlackBerry at one time? But I do mult-task a lot, but maybe 6 are open at a time.

Just so I don't confuse anyone..want to qualify 1 thing I mentioned in #8, on the browser, dolphin is very popular and most do have secure browsing, but there is something specific web site trying to get into, and Opera was the only one that worked for this specific site..

Tell me about it, that's why it will take me a month lol! Actually I think I finally have it the way I want it. I went with GingerBlur instead because I like the black theme better with Launcher Pro Plus, Widgetsoid, Beautiful Widgets Lite, and Winamp.

hey sorry guys ive been on vacation. i am still loving the phone and all the apps and everything are great. however it seems like i am barely using the phone and when it is off the charger for 9 hours i have 40% battery. maybe im just not used to it... thats the ONLY gripe i have is the battery life and it may not even be a bad battery im just not used to it

i am patiently waiting for an exact GB date..
