Just wanted to say hello...

Just moved over from the Pre yesterday and I can't believe I waited so long. This phone is insane.

It's a nice rainy day here, just poured a cup of coffee and sitting down to learn about this EVO.

Is there anything better than new fresh technology to play with?

Scott

Welcome to the AC and the EVO you have made a wise decision on your purchase the EVO is one great device.

Later,
Dave

Welcome. I also made the switch...loved my Pre (passed it down to my son), but it seems so tiny when I play with it now. Loving the EVO.

Aloha Scott! Welcome! I too came from the Pre. I couldn't believe why I waited so long either! At first I was a little intimidated because the Pre felt like a toy phone compared to the EVO. I also was so used to having a full keyboard but after I installed swype and shapewriter it was so much easier. I gave my old Pre to a coworker's wife :) Enjoy learning the Android platform....you won't regret it!

You're gonna love your Evo. Just play around with the phone. That's honestly the best way to learn about your phone.

My pre sits in a draw as my backup phone now. Evo is just on another level.

well i guess there are tons of us who made the Android plunge after living with the PRe. i really did love that phone, it's a shame that it died such a painful death. EVO is like a breath of fresh air... i have to say that i was so disillusioned that i was dead set on taking it in the ishorts. i really didn't want to deal with ATT again and their constant milking of iPhone customers. i just wanted a phone that worked. it looks like i found that with the EVO. all i need now is bluetooth voice commands (which i hear will be out with FROYO) and this phone is perfect. thank you HTC, Google, and Sprint. i am loving life again.

I figured I would submit my first post to welcome you and also to be welcomed myself. I am a Palm Pre switcher as well and am already loving the Evo. I have been reading for a few days between here and xda to see what the phone can do beyond what I already plan on making it do.

It's funny how you have to stop trying to swipe .... force of habit . I need a prenonomys group " hello my name is Scott and I haven't swiped in two days "

@OP you will never want a pre again after using the EVO. I can't believe I used that tiny screen for am entire year.

Came from a Pre myself. Loved WebOS but love learning the android system. I've had my Evo for over a week and love it. I might be returning it for the Epic though. I just can't decided if I can get used to the touchscreen keyboard.

Just got the evo as well, but keeping the pre as my main phone and using the evo as our home phone. Here is the setup: Evo with wifi hotspot, Vtech bluetooth phones. I paired the evo with the vtech phones and can now make and receive cell phone calls using the vtech's. This way I have 4 of them around the house, don't have to run from the basement to the main floor to answer a call. With the hotspot and 4G (still not getting 4G at my house but the map says my neighbor 50 feet away gets it so it shouldn't be long) I'm good to go and cancelling the home for $35 a month and home internet - another $35, all for $50 ($57 including the insurance). 4G similar speeds from my DSL provider run $50 a month, so I'll be increasing the speed and saving $13 bucks a month. Got 30 days to get this all worked out, so far it's working great, other than the 4G.

Still using the pre as my cell....why? I love the intergrated calendars and the small size that fits right into my pocket. I can bring the evo with me when I need to use any of the fancy apps. We all have cell phones at home as well.

Welcome to all those that recently came from the Pre. You made a wise decision choosing the EVO & Android in general ;)

Yeah I can't bring myself to sell the pre, its a love hate relationship we had.

You'd love the 150 bucks you might get for it better. I sold two of them and haven't missed them a bit. Wife and I enjoy our EVOs much more.

I have to sell my Pre. I can use the money to help pay for some things, and since it's still in very good condition it should go for a decent amount of monies.

Came over from a Pre as well and not looking back. I can't believe the difference even after a week between the two phones. Keeping my Pre though as a backup phone and a backup mp3 player for around the house.
