Just Got My Hands On A Thunderbolt Dummy Unit..

Went to my corp verizon store today. I asked the guy if he had a dummy and he said no. I went to play around with the XOOM (which is awesome) and he came back and said look. In his hand was a thunderbolt dummy unit. here are some notes of importance.

- the soft touch back feels great in the hand.\
- the device has a nice heft, not to heavy granted it was a dummy unit.
- the kickstand felt low end and didn't snap into place so I am thinking it is not the finished product.
- it was hard to tell if the kickstand was metal.
- the power/lock button and volume rocker did not click so they were probably just not working on the dummy.

SUB-dawg

Already been said the kickstands are far superior than the EVO's and I never heard EVO users saying their kickstands were constantly breaking.

Dummy units, as said, denote nothing but size and shape. Trying to take anything else from it is, well, dumb.

Seriously? "Far Superior"? Seriously? It's a piece of metal on a hinge. It's not a dual-core kickstand with bluetooth and tracking device or anything. It's just a piece of metal on a hinge. Some of you fan-boys are a trip. And no, I've never heard of an Evo kickstand breaking. If the Bolt ones do, I guess it won't be as "superior" as you think, huh?

Yeah I would wager some hinges are better than others .

A better hinge is possible, but probably not anything that took an engineering team a year to develop or many late nights if you know what I mean...I'm just amazed at the "Far superior" claim...That's like saying the Evo was "Revolutionary" for being the first phone with a kickstand.

I held one a few weeks ago. Weight was somewhat close to a droid 1, maybe a little heavier. The contoured back felt way better in my hand than my old DX. I also thought the kickstand felt a little weak. However, considering they'd have to make a separate mold to have a "different" kickstand on the dummy units, it wouldn't be cost effective to do that. I would venture to say whats on the dummy units is whats on the actual phone.
