Just got off the phone at Verizon......repair is in the works for the recent OTA gaggle!

CLNR is on it's way. Unfortunately I have NO time to mod my phone. If the CLNR doesn't work like my original S3, I'll pull the trigger on a new S4 on swappa. I got to have my unlimited data plan.

Yes. However, your CLNR replacement phone may or may not have the update on it. I'm going to suffer and wait this out. I would rather not trade in my new phone for a refurbished one. Fingers crossed that a fix will come out soon.

I spoke with Verizon yesterday to get me a replacement phone. They put me on hold to "call" Samsung to verify if the replacement phones would have the update and they said no because they stopped pushing them out. They assured me that my replacement would not have the newest update. It is supposed to be here monday so we shall see.

Rolling phone back to MB1 takes 15 minutes tops, well worth having a fully working phone again..

It took me a little longer, but due to the update roll back had to go through the app optimization process for 403 apps. Worked fine and back to the PROVEN and LESS BLOAT rmb1 stock firmware.

My advice is roll back and not take an update. You will still get the extra bloat with the future fix update.

If they didn't want the bloat, they would simply set up to roll back to rmb1 now, rather than wait a month or more for an update to fix. That is a long time for customers to deal with the poor update.

That said, a 770 mb stock rom roll back might be problematic as an OTA. Not sure they can simply "undo" just the update parts.

I recieved a CLNR, but upon booting up the phone was immediately prompted to install the update. I deferred for the max 5 days, but now i seem to be stuck in a loop of repeatedly deferring every 5 days. Is there any way to prevent the phone from updating now that it has apparently been pulled, and prevent that reminder from popping up every 5 days?

Of course there is a way to fix it. It's called rooting and titanium backup to block the updater

Not sure. But since the update has been pulled, I would assume you would not receive the garbage update.

ever since i downloaded it, ive suffered the 4gLTE problem and only get 3G in my area when i always had 4G...on top of that text message and phone call recepition has gone down hill...and also google play store hangs up and locks up my phone

So far no problems. But now that I type this I await some

Which version update is it trying to install? I535VRBLK3 is fine, it's the VRBMD3 that has the issues discussed here.

I got the CLNR and it wanted me to update also. At first I deferred then I realized it just wants me to update to 4.1.2 but not the faulty build. The CLNR came with 4.0.4 so I wanted 4.1.2.
My phone works better than ever.

Yeah they keep blaming each other, it is both of their mistake. I refuse to get a referb phone. I have them crediting my acct for the time since the update. I hope the fix comes out soon.

I find it amazing and kind of convenient that my new to me refurbished is out for delivery and today I am getting full 4G service at work. When it has, for the last two weeks, been nonexistent. Oh well hopefully the new one will still work better and not have the new update. Even though Verizon last week said the refurbished are not coming with it and will not ask you to update to it.

If you don?t mind me asking, how much are they crediting? I?d like to know so I can decide if it?s worth the time on the phone.

I just called and they credited 50 percent of data plan. I'm on unlimited so they gave $15 credit. Of course they put the blame on Samsung. Rep also said new software should be out early July. I'll take that one with a grain of salt.

Early July ?? really.. That is completely unacceptable.. There are folks out there paying for a phone that does not work as a result of the update.
They should (short term fix) push BMB1 to get folks back working again then re-roll out BMD3 when it has been tested and works. That to me seems like
such a common sense thing to do and it would not take 5 weeks to get folks back to normal again.

wow.. that's about all I can say..

Thought problems was just me and then came here to confirm it wasn't just my phone.
I did the same, called verizon and got the same July release for fix.
Guess I'll just roll back until that fix comes.

Got my final Verizon bill today...$287.14 with my ETF. It was worth it. I have a very nice phone, strong 3G, (I'm on WiFi most of the time) unlimited talk, text, data for $73.35 a month after discount. Verizon needs to teach their customer service people not to say things like "You aren't going to go anywhere, you would owe us too much money if you did." or "Call Name ID wasn't part of that update, you must have installed it yourself", or (my personal favorite) "This is the first we've heard of this, you must be the only one having a problem...have you tried a factory data reset?" It's been what, 3 weeks since the update?

I have no problem getting a "CLNR" since my 32gig S3 is 11 months old and is showing some age. I activated my "CLNR" yesterday and after 2 days of use I can say I'm finally back to where I was before the "fiasco" update. Thought I was going to have to pull the trigger @ full retail for the S4 (I got to keep my unlimited data 20-30gigs a month). Glad I didn't have to. My assessment of the "fiasco" update seem to be when I was in a commercial building my phone could not pull in a decent signal. It appears that when I was outside it seems to perform adequately.
