Just got one.

Opted for the black. I can't wait to see the light reflect in person. Kinda bought it on a whim too. Gotta notification about the price drop and decided to jump on it. I've been with LG for a few years now. Looking forward to something different.

I did have a G4. Currently have a G5 actually. No doubt the Honor 8 will be better than a G4. The G5 is pretty fantastic though. Dropped it a couple of weeks ago. Cracked glass in the upper left portion, but not the screen. Enough to make me shop for a phone.

Not as good, but no phone is. I'm also in possession of an iPhone 7 plus, and the S7 low light performance is unbeatable. The Honor does pretty well though, and the flash is good.

Congratulations on your new phone, OP! Happy Phone Week! Also, superb colour choice!

Well the iPhone won't drop much in price over the next few months so you have time.

I am in the same boat as you BTW.

I'm in a sort of same boat. I have a 6s Plus, and am looking at staying with Apple with the 7 Plus or going MUCH cheaper with the Honor 8.

What do you think when comparing the Honor 8 to the iPhone 7 Plus?

Hi! I know you weren't asking me specifically, but I'll lend my two cents. ;)

I would find it a little bit difficult to truly compare the two, as the iPhone 7 Plus is a flagship device and the Honor 8 is a midrange device; however, the Honor 8 does have a lot of the similar specs of last year's average flagship at a great price. It is also somewhat similar in aesthetic to the iPhone line, in my opinion, but (also in my opinion), the Honor 8 looks better (also, I'm more of an Android fan).

Also, if you're going to compare the two devices, if things like camera, video taping, etc are important to you, then the quality of photos/videos on the Honor 8 - though they're quite good - will not be on par with that of the iPhone 7 Plus.

The Honor and iPhone do have some similar OS components - like no app drawer, for example, and apparently their lock screen operations are similar? Again, I don't have any concrete experience with Apple, this is just what I've read and heard around the forums or with other users - but Honor does have a different operating system called EMUI, which has received mixed reviews.

If you're trying to save money and are interested in a unique and also budget-saving experience, I highly recommend the Honor 8. However, if you're really into Apple, are familiar with the OS, and enjoy the media aspect of the device, I would recommend Apple.

He's the perfect person to ask. If I'm not mistaken, he has both.

I think of Apple as a walled garden. Everything is great inside but if you want something outside of what's allowed then you are extremely limited unless you jailbreak.

With that being said, the Honor 8 feels like 90% of the iPhone 7 Plus. Whether or not that extra 10% is worth twice the cost is up to you.

I preferred the shots from the iPhone myself, but it wasn't a huge difference. The 2x optical zoom is nice but it is only effective in good lighting situations. Beyond that the camera will default to digital zoom. Daytime shots being very similar. Nighttime has a bigger difference.i posted a picture comparison here:

Also remember that the Honor 8 is much smaller. On paper only 0.3" but in the hand, it is quite significant.

iMessage is probably the biggest stickler for iPhone users as it isn't compatible with Android.

I mentioned the iPhone 7 Plus a few times in my honor 8 review

The walled in garden is my biggest issue with Apple. I otherwise like it. Just hate that I can't set default apps and have to adhere to Apple's guidelines for everything. Like how I can't use speech dictation on any keyboard other than Apple's. I'm also firmly entrenched in Google's ecosystem (mail, calendar, music, movies, etc.).

But I've been pretty much solely on iOS since December of last year. And now I'm starting to not think it's worth all the extra money when I can get an Honor 8 and Huawei Watch for half the price of an iPhone 7 Plus. It's a tough call right now. I may have to try it out. B&H has a good return policy.

Doo it! B&H really does, I deal with them very often and I have never been disappointed.

I believe the update to Gboard allows voice dictation now, I'm sure I read that this is on the iOS version now.

It's on my phone now and I don't see where this is an option. I think Apple blocks it on any keyboard that isn't stock.

Well I ordered from B&H tonight. Honor 8 64gb with some free stuff and a Huawei Watch for $549 shipped. Not too bad!
