I'm in Los Angeles and i just got the OTA update this morning. I have noticed the camera takes pics faster the quality is so so. The phone is still fast when navigating through it. The lock/unlock has changed ( no longer the arch) now you flip left to right. I havent heard my echo on calls but I sitll hear some crackling when ppl are talking that is my biggest problem!! Anyone still having that problem? I'm wondering if it's just my phone.

it is not used for anything really that you'd want to do in your practical use of the phone. if you try to boot your phone one day and it doesnt ever finish, then use this and do a hard reset. Just gives you a way to manipulate the phone in case it won't boot, since you couldn't get to the normal settings menu option to restore to factory defaults.

General rule of thumb, write down the procedure (if you're memory is anything like mine) and move on, there's a lot more fun things you can do with this phone then accessing the boot menu

Well mine was waiting for me this morning at 8:30am est and when I selected to update it did nothing... the window closed out and nothing else.. no update at all. even powered the phone off and back on after an hour and still nothing.. my wife's droid got no notification yet.. sooooooo been on the phone with motorola for about an hour now..
lol they are telling me I am supposed to get an update before this update.. wtf? they are saying that there is an ESD in between ESD20 and ESD56... ??
they sound confused as to why I am not updating as they claim updates are being pushed every 30 min..

I had to do a factory reset to get my phone updated.. ugh..

well... I swapped the file name from update to update.zip that seemed to work for a bit until I get this:

It all lasts less than 20 seconds.

Has anyone that got the above error being able to update yet??

The update.zip needs to be in the TOP LEVEL of the SD Card.

this topic has been beaten to death. for those that manual is failing, it's either that the update.zip file was not downloaded in full or is corrupt (i.e. the md5 checksum does not match) OR it's failling some verification check on the existing build on your phone. First rule out the md5 checksum as I believe it was provided in the post. IF the file is good, then just wait to see if verizon's push fixes.

I'm tech savvy enough to manually install the update, but I'm also of the opinion that if there's going to be an installation problem, it will happen to me.

I'll be patient and wait for the OTA update. Compared to the wait for my Droid, this is a piece of cake.

Had mine here when I woke up this morning. Nothing earth shattering, but I was lucky in that I was, aside from so-so incoming call voice quality, having none of the problems reported here.

I was just reading thru this thread, and my OTA update came thru! ... at 10:02 pm local time (I live in Phoenix, AZ) which is 12:02 am EST time.

I've just had a few minutes to play with it. Early impression: yes, it does seem a bit snappier. I'll have to have more time to play with it to give more impressions.

ya thats the same error i was getting. until i went thru astro manager,

My update came at 12:42am EST. I was just about to go to bed and I was looking at the phone when the message popped up. Downloaded and I'll check it out more thoroughly tomorrow.

Mine came in sometime between 2am and 6am. No hitches except that my RSS reader from Blue Dragon vanished and somehow couldn't find it on the market.....updated with NewsRob.
