Their (vmu) probably losing customers just by threatening us. I've been on vm for more than 2 years. They've made over $600 dollars off of the service I've been paying for and more then $400 off of new phones I've bought. I seriously doubt they'd do that to us! I mean come on we're loyal to them!

They would trade you in an instant for a new user paying $35 a month.

We are the lowest on their food chain of people to please, despite being loyal customers. There is no loyalty anymore, most companies can't see past the end of their nose in terms of long term profits. Get what you can get, right here, right now, and get out before you crash everything.

Good lord get LeslieAnn some tinfoil quick!! My beautiful rant used by another.. I like it

I would have to say we are pretty safe when it comes to rooting our phones. Even though they don't allow rooting they also don't allow tethering and yet 90 percent of vm users tether. And I haven't heard of anyone getting kicked off because of it, so they will definitely not kick someone off for rooting.

No, 90 percent of VM users don't know how to tether. Most VM users don't get on forums like this. We are a minority.

Leslieann I respect what your saying, but in no way am I trying to crash anything? Lol I'm on your side.

I wonder If we could change the format of this discussion into a running poll. (this is an election year after all) . Take a poll of how many VM users, running custom roms & roots, would resort to un-
do all that work in order to stay with VM. Or would they abandon VM
for another network. I have been with VM for almost 8 years now, but
my MT WILL NOT run properly without the custom rom & GPS fix
(which was GB oriented fix). I owned
a OV for over a year, four months stock. I know & see the performance difference between stock froyo and custom GB. VM WILL loose a customer here if I get kicked off after 8 years! Customized phones ARE NOT Illegal! (in the USA) Denial of Service is, even if it's a globally traded network. The lawyers are ready! Apple lost, AT&T
lost, little guys won! A poll would be interesting.

I personally won't change anything I do unless I hear of people actually getting kicked off the network. Otherwise, I take this as a scare tactic only.

I sold my tinfoil hat years ago.

Well at least you had one lol.. It's bout time to make another duct tape hat here.. Hope I get the sticky side right this time .. Took hours to get the last one off but I'm sure the hair will grow back.. Tinfoil is so yesterday.. If I had 4 Billion dollars I could own a Evo for each day of the week.. Sweet!!

Exactly and I bet they had that poll already and as my Ov is working perfectly I know how that turned out ;) I may wake tomorrow to find that VM has snatched the connective life from my OV and if that happens?? I will vote with my feet and never use them again period.. Oh they know hehe..

I'd buy a few Bugatti Veyrons just to say I have them! Lol and if I had money like that I'd pay Google to build me the perfect phone and be the only one in the world to have it. But anyway, I believe virgin should leave us alone, the ov or any phone they have is CRAP without root access. So they need to stop. Besides the evo is good but come on? It'll get boring after a few weeks, so that's why root users just flash a custom rom, it makes us as happy as we first bought it. It gives developers something to do. Some of them like tdm or Leslieann do this for free mostly or mainly to have something to do, and to satisfy us. Ill be really mad if I get kicked off for rooting MY(not vm's) phone. :banghead:

One thing you guys are forgetting in saying hte phone is yours. While you might pay money you earned to use the phone it is worthless if VM kicks you off their network. That is why I will probably not every go back to a cdma provider.

Now I dont think VM will kick anybody for rooting a phone. This whole discussion is gone on too long. The new clauses are covering VM's ass. These clauses have been part of Sprint, Verizon, ATT, T-Mobile, and many other carriers we dont have access to. If that clause isnt in the TOS they cant refuse to warranty your phone. Its also there to keep people that have no business rooting scared enough to not root the phone.

Remember you might pay your hard earned cash for these phones. But in the end you could end up with a HTC ipod if VM was to ever cancel your service.

Sadly the VM TOS does nothing to stop stupid ppl who brick their handsets from going to VM and complaining and calling in the lawyers and in the end that's what will put a fork in rooting handsets and make sure it's not done again once and for all.. Also abusive tethering which by the looks of the occupy wallstreet crowd (Napster Kids) will happen a lot..
