Just held the HTC one in the store

You can still use it on such a charger.
Yet one of the advantages of removable batteries is that your phone does not ever have to be on a charger...just do a battery swap instead.

At home I want to set it on the charging stand next to my chair. It's charging and still available to grab and go or to use without a USB cord tethering it. I want the same ability at work. I want to just set the phone on the charging stand on my desk. I hate having all the cords and mess on my desk and want to have the phone on the charger but still be able to just grab it and use it or grab it and go.

Yes, there is a "cool" factor but it's not just for the "coolness" that I want the feature (although I can't deny it's part of the reason I want it). It would really suit the way I work and use my phone.

Wireless charging. The One won't do it due to the metal body. Everything I've seen about this phone is absolutely awesome - except for this one thing. For me, it may be a deal breaker.

Why? You can't use the device when its charging. Theres nothing 'wireless' about it.
