Not saying it makes it true, but comparing a phone call to customer service to a visit to the store doesnt work. One wants to sell you the phone; the other is trained to be as vague as possible.

Fair enough. We did have a decent conversation though. She loved android, and enjoyed talking about it. Wasn't vague, in fact she talked me into letting them send me a D2 replacement in case Nexus wasn't released before the 14 day worry free was up (I was trying to save them money under the circumstances even though it was motos warranty replacement). I understand what you're saying. My point still stands though. Your going to get all kinds of different answers from VZW employees right now. Legitimately clueless, rumor spreading, politically talking around the question, sales talk selling other phones etc. You may get a true answer, probably won't. Even if you do, you'll never know until its released/announced. We all want it, grasping for straws and spreading rumors is just making this all worse.

The big question now is..was this all planned/discussed with Google before hand? Is there a snowballs chance in #%%# Google will allow vzw another nexus? Seems to me if you really want nexus devices in the future, signing 2 years with vzw is a garuntee to pay an etf in 12 months

I stopped by a Verizon store at the train station while waiting for the commuter train. Asked the sales lady if she could tell me anything about the Nexus and she immediately looked down and said no and began to laugh. I took that as a hint that we will probably know something soon enough, especially considering the sales people tend to be the last to know about new phones and usually when they hear about them they are coming out very soon.

I was actually about to get a Rezound yesterday and exchange it for the Nexus, but then I saw more stuff about the Nexus coming out next week and decided to just wait and see what happens.

The only thing is most people that don't visit sites like these have no idea of the nexus. They know less than you and I and most probably do not care enough to do that, they just are in it for the paycheck.

While most employees obviously don't visit sites like these, all it takes is one. Just one employee that has the info to send it to AC. That's why I don't think there's anything in their computers. We would have seen it by now.

So that 1 employee that may read this site is going to risk their job for a computer screen shot? I doubt that. Plus we saw things from the computers about dates yet nobody wanted to believe any of them. Multiple things said the 21st the dates before were all pretty much just what a so called source said with no proof to back it up.

Okay, so take this how you will. I made up my mind today that I was sick of my charge, and that I was going to verizon after work and getting the RAZR to hold me over until the Nexus.

While talking to the sales guy, I said I was debating on either this (razr) or the Rezound. He gave me the details on both, even though I knew them already. I then told him that I've been reading about this Nexus phone, and asked if he knew when that was coming out. He told me to wait a minute, and he was going to go look it up on the computer. He came back a minute later and said, OK look, since you're semi interested in the nexus I'm going to just tell you to wait, because it looks like in the computer we are going to be getting them in on the 21st.

He said nobody really ever comes in and asks about the Nexus, and they really don't even want us to talk about it. So needless to say, here I am, still on my charge, hoping this guy wasn't full of bs. It's not like he said rumor has it, or I think, he said I am seeing we will be getting it next week. I asked him about the promos for it as well, and he said the day or night before will be it. This is a pretty big verizon store in NJ

Yep.. I had a similar experience at the mall tonight.. At a kiosk I was checking out the Razr and I asked a few questions about the car dock.. The sales guy told me to wait till next week and id be happy I did.. I asked him if he was talking about the samsung phone.. He just smiled and laughed and said you'll have to wait and see..

here's my experience from a verizon store the other day...i went in looking at the razr to take advantage of the extended return policy and hold me over until the nexus comes out....and he had never heard of the nexus....so therefore going by what verizon employees tell me...there is no galaxy nexus and its just a hoax.

There's only two ways to find out...an announcement or wait till Monday hits next week. Then we'll truly know. :p

How many verizon employees do you actually think frequent sites like this? My guess is going to be not many at all.

Losing their job isn't worth the picture. They don't know and if they did and leaked out information they can be fired. I was a Rep for a retailer. It isn't fair to ask them to make a risk. My answer was always I don't know....which was true.

Out of the hundreds of VZW employees visiting popular Android forums, it takes ONE to leak something and risk their job. If there was info in their computers, it would be leaked within a day.

I'd have to agree with this statement. VZW has kept the release date on lockdown for a reason, but with the regular telltale signs of a imminent release.

Yeah...there is nothing in the systems that store managers or store employees can access that has a date. I would have heard. They are likely repeating internal rumors or...LOL, rumors found here.

"the tell us not to talk about it" yea that basically confirms verizon is ing this up on purpose.

um.. theirs 100's of other employees at stores like phones4u in the uk that by your logic should of leaked something prior to the uk launch.. I dont know for sure but I doubt there were any leaks posted on uk blogs about it. Feel free to find one and prove your point.. otherwise I believe its very possible a phone can launch without a leak first. (besides the other 20 leaks weve already seen)

I think I'm gonna join the masses in attempting to see what a VZ sales-person knows. I gotta go in to open up a new line and check on my bill, so I may as well take that lunge to ask if they know anything. The 21st is only 3 days away and would be an amazing launch date, considering how long we've all been waiting for something to come out. I live in kinda a dull southern area, so maybe, with any luck, they people wouldn't have checked any sites like Android Central, and therefore will either give me info they have on their computer, or none at all.

I want this phone more than i want the new zelda game that comes out on the sunday. and that only comes out once every 5 years!!!

Just got back from my local corporate VZW store. Asked about the Nexus. Here's the exchange:

Me: So when is the Nexus going to get here?
Manager: We don't know yet. But it will be soon.
Me: Well, it's absolutely got to be before Black Friday, right?
Manager: Nope. As the manager, I would know if it were coming next week.

I'll predict that he's right, but only for in-store sales. Why?

We know that (a) VZW doesn't want the Nexus to poach sales from the bloatware-ridden Razr and Rezound. We also know that (b) every retailer needs to have all guns blazing by Black Friday or they are up the creek. VZW doesn't want to hurt their relationship with Moto/HTC and wants to sell bloatware, but they also have Q4 numbers to worry about. That's the stock price on the line there. I wouldn't discount that.

So I predict that, at a minimum, we'll see web sales of the Nexus next week, perhaps starting at midnight on Thursday morning. They might keep it out of the stores for a little while. This way, all the sheeple can walk into the store and buy bloatware, but VZW will still get the sales from the Nexus buyers who will just get it online. That solution really solves all of the problems.

BTW, I also asked a regular sales rep about the return policy being extended to Jan 9. He flatly denied that and insisted it is only 2 weeks still.

I love how people go into verizon stores and ask them and then think they know everything. Verizon never tells them anything until the last minute. I know multiple managers who are not given info on when the phones will launch until a day or two ahead of time. Good luck trying to make anything out of what some manager told you. He probably also tried to get you to buy a different phone and that could be why he said no about nexus.

I manage a Verizon store and can confirm this.

All this speculation was just killing me, so I headed out to my local big red store to get some answers. Here is what I learned:

I walked to the local corporate big red store a few blocks from work. Along the way, I bumped into an elderly lady who was pushing a cart of groceries down the sidewalk. There was a rather large crack in the concrete, and one of the wheels of the cart was lodged. I could see that she was struggling, so I offered to help. The nice lady was most greatful that I happened to be walking by, and gladly accepted my assistance. I gave the cart a good push and it lurched forward over the crack without much struggle. I said goodbye to the nice lady and returned to work feeling rather satisfied that I did my little part to make the world a better place. So, anyway what was I talking about again?
